You truly can’t make this up.
In 2022, New York Gov. Kathy Hochul told Republicans to leave her state.
Her specific words were, “jump on a bus and head down to Florida where you belong!”
Well, many Republicans did just that.
And now that New York is suffering due to a max exodus of rich taxpayers and business owners, she wants them back!
During a Politico summit last week, Gov. Hochul urged New Yorkers who moved away to states like Florida — where taxes are lower and life is better — to please, please return because her state’s “tax base has been eroded.”
You have to see this for yourself:
🚨 LMFAO! New York Gov. Kathy Hochul is being mocked nationwide after she BEGGED people to move back from Florida
4 years ago, she was GLOATING, saying Republicans should "jump on a bus and head down to Florida"

This is just too funny!
In other words, Kathy Hochul only wants wealthy, common-sense people there to fund crazy, left-wing agendas.
I don’t think that’s going to work.
“Hey billionaires, can you please move back to New York and give us more of your money?”— Ellie A (@EllieGAnders) March 19, 2026
And, under NYC Mayor Mamdani, it’s only going to get worse.
Right now, he’s trying to lower the estate tax threshold from $7 million to only $750,000 — which would encompass pretty much everyone who owns a home in New York, not just the ultra-wealthy.
This clip from Fox News shared some more light on the situation:
"Nobody that's gone down to Florida is coming back. People that went to Florida, went to Texas. They're not coming back.
"We just want you back so you can fund our far left policies in the state. Won't happen."
"I'm eligible for estate tax. My kids will hate me if I don't move… pic.twitter.com/rtzTECVLIF

“I’m eligible for estate tax. My kids will hate me if I don’t move to Florida. They’re not only punishing the billionaires and the millionaires, they want to reduce the estate tax from $7 million down to $750,000.”
“Everybody’s house in New York is worth $750,000. So they want to punish everybody. It just doesn’t work. They don’t realize it. I should come back so I could feed the migrants?”
By the way, Katchy Hochul is up for re-election this year.
Her Republican opponent, Bruce Blakeman, shared a statement with Fox News on her totally out-of-touch remarks at the Politico summit:
“Kathy Hochul finally discovered what New Yorkers already know,” Blakeman said in a statement obtained by Fox News Digital. “When you raise taxes, drive up the cost of living, make it harder to do business, and try to destroy families’ savings, people leave. Apparently Hochul’s new economic development strategy is to ask them politely to come back.”
ADVERTISEMENT“Palm Beach is lovely this time of year, but I’m not sure former New Yorkers will be eager to trade sunshine, no state income tax, and sanity for the highest taxes in the nation under Kathy Hochul — especially while Zohran Mamdani proposes a massive death tax hike. He wants to start taxing inheritances as low as $750,000 and take up to half of what families leave behind. That’s a tough sell.”
“Here’s a revolutionary idea: cut taxes, make New York affordable, and people might actually stay. That’s what I’ll do as governor,” he noted.
It’s sad to see how far New York has devolved.
But, something tells me nobody who has moved away is coming back, any time soon…
Kathy should have been careful what she wished for, four years ago!
Sometimes you get exactly what you asked for.
