Since the beginning of the Iran War, there has been a real attempt by the media to divide Vice President JD Vance and President Trump when it comes to military operations in Iran.
On Monday afternoon, while Trump and Vance were in the Oval Office taking questions from the press, a reporter attempted to continue this trend.
The reporter asked Vance if he was on board with the Iran War.
Vance quickly noticed the reporter was attempting to create a divide and replied: “You’re trying to drive a wedge between the president and me.”
The New York Post reported more details on Vance’s reply:
Vice President JD Vance rebuffed a reporter’s question Monday about his views on President Trump’s foreign military interventions — saying the journalist was “trying to drive a wedge” between himself and Trump on the Iran war.
“You’re trying to drive a wedge between members of the administration, between me and the president,” Vance told RealClearPolitics reporter Philip Wegmann during an Oval Office event where the VP was put in charge of a new fraud task force.
“What the president said consistently, going back to 2015 — and I agreed with him — is that Iran should not have a nuclear weapon.”
When Wegmann pressed Vance on his prior positions, the VP, who reportedly voiced skepticism ahead of the Iran conflict, said his support for the ongoing war stems from his trust in Trump.
“Well, I think one big difference, Phil, is that we have a smart president, whereas in the past, we’ve had dumb presidents,” Vance said.
“And I trust President Trump can get the job done, to do a good job for the American people, and to make sure that the mistakes of the past aren’t repeated, absolutely.”

WLT Report previously reported that President Trump, while addressing reporters in Doral, Florida, revealed that he and JD Vance have different philosophical thoughts on the war in Iran.
A reporter asked Trump last week if there were any disagreements between him and Vice President Vance on the war in Iran.
Trump replied that there were no disagreements, but they did think philosophically differently about it.
ABC News reported the following details on Trump’s statements:
President Donald Trump said that he and Vice President JD Vance are “philosophically a little bit different” when it comes to U.S. war with Iran after ABC News previously reported that Vance internally expressed reservations about the strikes late last month.
When asked during his Monday evening news conference in Florida if there were any disagreements between him and Vance on action against Iran, Trump said he didn’t “think so.”
Vance has made conflicting comments on US wars abroad. Here’s what that could mean for his political ambitions.
“We get along very well on this,” Trump said. “He was, I would say, philosophically a little bit different than me. I think he was maybe less enthusiastic about going, but he was quite enthusiastic. But I felt it was something we had to do. I didn’t feel we had a choice. If we didn’t do it, they would have done it to us.”
Trump’s comments about their differences on Iran come after ABC News reported that Vance, who has largely opposed U.S. intervention abroad, made his reservations about the strikes against Iran known internally, according to a source familiar with the matter.
ADVERTISEMENTOnce it became clear that the decision had been made to move forward with the strikes, Vance shifted his focus to supporting the military operation, a source told ABC News.
