Henry Ford Health says eight people were injured in the Temple Israel attack in West Bloomfield.
A vehicle crashed into the Temple Israel building on 5725 Walnut Lake Road in West Bloomfield Township late Thursday morning, said an official with the early childhood learning center.
The Synagogue announced that all 140 students are okay and the security guard who exchanged gunfire with the driver had non-life-threatening injuries.
Meanwhile, Henry Ford Health said eight first responders were hospitalized, with police saying two went in for minor smoke inhalation, one for a crash and the security guard who was injured.
“The emergency medicine teams at Henry Ford West Bloomfield Hospital and Henry Ford Providence Novi Hospital are currently caring for eight first responders following this afternoon’s incident at Temple Israel. Further requests for updates on their conditions should be directed to law enforcement.
“Our hearts go out to the community at Temple Israel and anyone who is impacted by this this frightening event. There is absolutely no place for violence in our community.”
“More on this: law enforcement source confirms to @realDailyWire that the Michigan synagogue shooter was armed with a rifle. The shooter rammed a car into the synagogue and then was killed by armed security in a shootout. The shooter’s vehicle caught on fire, and the shooter’s body is burned. Authorities do not yet have an ID for the shooter, we’re told,” The Daily Wire White House correspondent Mary Margaret Olohan wrote.
“Providentially, in January, FBI Detroit held a Active Shooter Attack Prevention and Preparedness (ASAPP) training for clergy and staff at Temple Israel,” she added.

More from The Detroit News:
This is a Guest Post from our friends over at 100 Percent Fed Up. View the original article here. The incident in West Bloomfield comes amid a wave of violence targeting synagogues in North America. In Toronto alone, three synagogues have been hit by gunfire this month, according to authorities there.
Shortly after 3 p.m., several groups of parents, some escorted by law enforcement, left Temple Israel with their children. Some held their kids’ hands. Others were emotional. Many declined to talk to media.
The incident prompted all nearby school districts, along with houses of worship, to shelter in place while police responded. Officials urged the public to stay away from the area and said more information would be released as it became available.
“The Michigan State Police is aware of an active shooting incident that is ongoing in West Bloomfield,” said the state police in a statement. “We are asking for community members to stay away from the area to allow for police response. Troopers are also increasing patrols at other places of worship in the district.”
ADVERTISEMENTAuthorities, meanwhile, scoured the area for an additional suspect around 2 p.m. It was unclear if there was one. Dozens of police cruisers lined Walnut Lake Road as Oakland County SWAT vehicles moved through the mass, along with an armored vehicle.
