BREAKING: ICE to Surge Into Somali Communities in Minnesota After Massive Fraud Scandal

The Trump administration is ready to take big action against Somalian communities in Minnesota, where widespread illegal activity has been exposed.

Speaking to Benny Johnson, a Department of Homeland Security official confirmed that ICE will be ramping up their presence in Minnesota and is recommending that anyone who is committing crimes should self-deport.

🚨 JUST IN: It’s been confirmed that ICE and Border agents are about to SURGE into Somalian-dominated communities in Minnesota after massive fraud was exposed

MUSIC TO MY EARS. 🔥

“In the coming days and weeks, you WILL see a dramatic change in posture in that community. This is a major story that requires intervention to fix the problem. If you are doing something illegal in that community, I recommend you self-deport.” – DHS Advisor Corey Lewandowski

Good. Somalis in MN need a lot more attention.

Recent investigations have blown the lid off of deep, fraudulent networks operating within Minnesota Somali communities.

Basically, they’ve been defrauding government programs and ripping off American taxpayers.

Allegedly, all the money they’ve been stealing is being used to fund terror.

The Minnesota Star Tribune reported:

Minnesota’s Somali community — the largest in the U.S. — finds itself under scrutiny in the wake of criminal investigations that have revealed the theft of hundreds of millions of dollars from state-run programs. Most of the dozens of people charged, convicted and sentenced in those schemes are of East African descent.

That scrutiny intensified last week after Christopher Rufo, a conservative activist known for pushing to end “wokeness” on college campuses, alleged in an unsubstantiated City Journal report that money stolen from Minnesota programs has gone to al-Shabab, a terrorist group that controls parts of Somalia. The story cited a retired detective from Seattle who has made similar claims that were debunked in the past.

In response to the fraud, President Trump is ending temporary legal protections for people from the country of Somalia.

This will pave the way for mass deportations of Somalians.

More from CBS News:

In a social media post on Friday, Mr. Trump said he would end “effective immediately” the temporary legal status for Somalia, a designation the country has had since 1991 and has been renewed in the years following. The federal program allows people to get temporary relief from removal and obtain a work authorization because the U.S. government determines certain countries are unstable due to civil unrest, violence or natural disasters.

More than 700 migrants from Somalia have Temporary Protected Status, according to the Congressional Research Service. In 2023, the year for which the most recent data is available, the Immigrant Law Center of Minnesota estimated 430 Somalis in the state were afforded those protections.

“This is not about crime. It’s not about safety. This is about purging people like me from this country,” said State Sen. Zaynab Mohamed, DFL-Minneapolis, at the rally Monday.

Minnesota has the largest Somali population in the U.S. with roughly 80,000 Somali Minnesotans living in the state, according to Minnesota Compass, a project of Wilder Research.

Mr. Trump, in his social media post announcing the move over the weekend, said Minnesota has become a “hub of fraudulent money laundering” and claimed “Somali gangs are terrorizing the people of that great state and billions of dollars are missing.”

Somali Minnesotans are among the nearly 80 charged in connection with the Feeding Our Future fraud scheme, in which prosecutors say defendants stole hundreds of millions of dollars that were supposed to be used to feed hungry children during the pandemic.

Dozens have been convicted or pleaded guilty in those cases. Separately, there are other allegations of fraud plaguing other state programs like housing and autism treatment services.

Great.

It’s high time that these people face the music.

Accountability is long overdue.
