Why So MYSTERIOUS, Chuck? Schumer Asked Point Blank if He Voted for Zohran Mamdani

The top Democrat on Capitol Hill is basically refusing to spill the beans on his loyalties.

Chuck Schumer has been under the microscope on whether he will openly cast his support to the Democrats’ nominee for Mayor of NYC.

Time and time again he has ducked every question thrown at him by reporters.

Today, after voting, he was asked again — and Schumer was seemingly IRRITATED by being asked (once again!) whether or not he’ll stand openly behind a radical Islamic socialist.

And again, he dodged the question.

Here’s the clip as shared by Fox News from a press briefing the Senator gave a short time after casting his ballot:

Here’s a full screen version of that for backup and for easier viewing.

This includes the follow-up questions about the continued government shut down.

Which, as it turns out, may have more to do with today’s election than the Democrat leadership wants to tell us:

As I looked in to this story, I realized Schumer has been put on the hot seat about his party’s NYC Mayoral candidate MULTIPLE times.

And every single time he has absolutely dodged the question.

That strikes me as odd considering the top Democrat in the House had no qualms openly endorsing Mamdani a month ago, as reported by the New York Post:

Senate Democratic Minority Leader and Brooklynite Chuck Schumer said he voted in New York City’s heated mayoral race — but refused to reveal if he backed his party’s nominee Tuesday.

Schumer previously declined to endorse far-left Democratic nominee Zohran Mamdani or ex-Gov. Andrew Cuomo, running as an independent.

“I voted and I look forward to working with the next mayor to help New York City,” Schumer told reporters at his weekly press conference in DC, when asked if he voted for democratic socialist Mandani or Cuomo.

House Democratic Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries endorsed Mamdani just before early voting started late last month. (Emphasis added.)

Many have speculated that Schumer might be facing heat from the more radicalized ‘true believers’ of the Democrat party — AOC, Jeffries, and the like.

In other words, he may have spurned that wing, turning instead to privately back Cuomo as an Independent.

And he’s simply catching too much heat from the up-and-coming radicals to say so openly.

That may be the case.

But another possibility has risen to the surface that has more to do with the government shut down…

But ALSO has Schumer pitted against that more radical left-leaning portion of his party.

For context, watch these clips on back-to-back days last week showing Schumer being even MORE dodgy than he was today!

Here he was on Oct. 28th ducking the Mamdani question:

And then the very next day he does the same quick skip out.

But again, as with today’s response, you can tell he’s TIRED of being asked that question:

And as I alluded to, there are reports indicating that the ‘Schumer Shut-down’ is truly that — as named by President Trump.

But with a far more politically motivated purpose than simply trying to thwart anything remotely attached to President Trump.

To begin with, check out this clip of Republican Sen. Mullin explaining how Schumer reportedly STOPPED Democrats from voting to re-open the government.

And the whole thing has to do with worry that Democrats wouldn’t turn out to vote if the government had already opened back up!

Here’s Sen. Mullin’s explanation as shared on X by journalist Eric Daugherty:

Here’s the full text of his post in case it’s not visible:

BREAKING: Sen. Markwayne Mullin just outrageously revealed Chuck Schumer held a BACK-ROOM MEETING and demanded Democrat senators wait until after tonight’s elections to reopen the government

“Because they were afraid their base wouldn’t show up today in Virginia, NJ, NYC.”

TRULY DISGUSTING.

“Last week, Dick Durbin WANTED to break with Democrats and reopen it, but Chuck Schumer in a private meeting with other senators said, wait until after the election, I’ll release the handcuffs. I’m paraphrasing.”

Could that be why Schumer is dodging the question about who he voted for, or supports?

Yet, he is perfectly fine with stating point blank he’s on good terms with the self-avowed socialist, as was reported reported by USA Today:

When asked at a press conference at the U.S. Capitol whether he voted for Democratic nominee Zohran Mamdani or Andrew Cuomo − the former Democratic governor running as an independent − Schumer simply said he voted.

Schumer’s comments came on Election Day as New Yorkers were turning out in record numbers to cast their ballots in the historic election.

Mamdani, a democratic socialist in the state Assembly who has led in the polls, would be the first Muslim mayor and first Asian American mayor of the nation’s largest city if he wins.

Schumer last week told reporters that he has “a good relationship” with Mamdani but also declined to offer an official endorsement of the candidate.

Tom Emmer, the House Minority Whip, agrees with Sen. Mullin’s take on the link between the shut-down and the election.

He appeared on Fox News last week saying that’s exactly what is going on.

He explained that if Schumer and the Democrats voted to allow the government to reopen, they might face a backlash from the ‘violent pro-terrorist wing’ of the Democratic Party; who then might not even show up at the polls today.

Here’s that clip from last week:

Sure enough, the Democrats in the Senate AGAIN refused to supply the votes to re-open the government.

Here was the scene earlier today on the Senate floor:

Schumer seems to be playing both ends against the middle.

That’s the only sense I can make of a top ranking Senator absolutely refusing to say whether or not he endorses his party’s candidate for the mayor of America’s largest city.

In some way, he is trying to prevent blowback from two opposing sides within his OWN PARTY.

It will be very interesting to watch in the coming days if suddenly the Democrats under Schumer’s direction magically cough up the votes to pass the Republican bill to end the shutdown.

Politics as usual?

Hardly.  It’s one thing to maneuver to push your voting base to the polls.

It’s a whole other thing when your party’s candidate is openly against a Capitalist free market, and has gone on record declaring it must be destroyed.

I’ll be watching to see how Schumer positions himself after the polls close and the winners are called.

And if Sen. Mullins and the House Majority Whip are right… we’re about to see the shutdown come to an end, as well.
