Gavin Newsom Debuts New Fake Accent, Spins Childhood Tale About Growing Up Poor

California Gov. Gavin Newsom just joined the ranks of phony Democrats who have conjured up fake backstories in order to try to seem more relatable.

In an appearance on the NBA podcast ‘All the Smoke,’ Newsom showed an entirely different side of himself — one that grew up poor and somehow developed a ghetto accent.

He talked about “hustlin'” just to “pay the bills, man” and reminisced about how he had to eat Wonder bread and mac ‘n cheese just to make it.

Watch the incredibly fake and cringe moment for yourself:

Wow, Newsom, I had no idea life was such a struggle for you!

It must have been so hard growing up in a wealthy family with deep political connections…

Of course, contrary to Newsom’s fabricated rough-and-tumble childhood narrative, in reality, he was basically a nepo kid.

Grok fact-checked his childhood:

No, Gavin Newsom did not grow up poor in the sense of deep or persistent poverty. He was born into a politically connected, upper-middle-class family in San Francisco in 1967—his father, William Alfred Newsom III, was a prominent attorney who later became a California appeals court judge and managed trusts for the ultra-wealthy Getty family, providing access to elite social circles and occasional luxuries like family vacations with the Gettys. His grandfather was also a close friend of former California Governor Pat Brown. However, his parents divorced when he was 2, and he was primarily raised by his single mother, Tessa Menzies Newsom, in modest circumstances in Marin County after age 10. Tessa worked three low-wage jobs (as a waitress, bookkeeper, and secretary) to support Newsom and his sister, occasionally relied on food stamps, and even took in foster children to help pay the rent, creating periods of financial instability and hardship. Newsom has described his childhood as “challenging” due to these struggles, compounded by severe dyslexia that led to bullying, academic difficulties, and skipped school days. Despite these elements, his father’s influence and family wealth opened doors that shaped his path into business (e.g., early financing from Gordon Getty for his PlumpJack wine venture) and politics, distinguishing his story from a classic “rags-to-riches” narrative.

How difficult it must have been to grow up in a multi-million dollar home:

I’m getting flashbacks to Hillary Clinton’s infamous “hot sauce” moment…

Newsflash to Newsom: nobody’s buying this tired old act.

It didn’t work for Hillary or Kamala, and it’s definitely not working for you.
