It looks like voters in Virgina are paying attention after all to the high-profile fight between Jay Jones and Jason Miyares.
For awhile it appeared as though Jones would get a free pass for his shockingly violent text messages fantasizing about murdering his political rivals — and the Police.
But the free pass Virginia Democrats wanted voters to bestow on Jones is apparently shriveling up.
According to new polling numbers, the Republican candidate who has received President Trump’s full endorsement just SURGED to the lead.
The race isn’t over yet — but that drastic jump shows that voters are indeed paying attention, and may not be quite as ready to let Jones’ rhetoric slide as VA Democrat leaders would hope.
Check out these new numbers highlighting the Quantus Insights poll that just dropped:
VIRGINIA POLL – Attorney General

As exciting as that must be for the Miyares campaign…
It’s still shocking that Jones is anywhere near the margin of error after what he said in those now-revealed text messages.
Here’s a refresher in case you need it on what Jones actually said in those now infamous text messages.
This clip is fittingly from the National Review… which initially broke the story:
Leading Democrats in Virginia, and on the national stage, staunchly resisted pulling their endorsements from Jay Jones even after those revelations came to light.
But if those new polling numbers are indicative of the current trend towards his opponent in the race for VA’s Attorney General… what the state’s Democratic leadership wanted MIGHT NOT MATTER.
Another poll from the Virginia Commonwealth University has a slightly different spread, but still shows Jason Miyares pulling ahead of Jones — according to the local ABC News affiliate out of Hampton, Virginia:
The latest poll from Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) was released Tuesday and shows several big changes in the state’s top races with just two weeks before Election Day.
The poll, conducted between Oct. 6 and Oct. 14, shows a narrowing gap between the two gubernatorial candidates from the previous poll, but still places Democratic candidate Abigail Spanberger ahead of Republican candidate Winsome Earle-Sears by a margin of 49% to 42%.
Meanwhile, the race for lieutenant governor found Republican John Reid just one point behind Democrat Ghazala Hashmi with a margin of 43% to 44%, respectively. Factoring in the margin of error, this means the lieutenant governor’s race is essentially tied, prior to Hashmi holding a 4-point advantage in the previous VCU poll.
What is perhaps most notable is a huge swing in the attorney general’s race, which finds Republican incumbent Jason Miyares ahead of Democrat Jay Jones for the first time in the polls, with a margin of 45% to 42%. Just last month, Jones was head of Miyares by a margin of 47% to 41%, but the poll was conducted in the immediate days following Jones’ leaked texts from 2022 that advocated for violence against the former Virginia House Speaker, Todd Gilbert, and his family.
Former Virginia Governor Douglas Wilder, for which the VCU school of Government and Public Affairs is named, said, “These results highlight that, with several weeks to go before the election, voters are paying attention to what the candidates are doing — and what they have done — as a precursor to what they will do if elected.” (Emphasis added.)
President Trump gave Jason Miyares, Jones’ Republican rival and the incumbent, his full endorsement following the outing of Jones’ dangerous fantasy.
He dropped this Truth Social post following that news, and called on Jones to resign:
Here’s the full text of the President’s endorsement in case that’s hard to read:
It has just come out that the Radical Left Lunatic, Jay Jones, who is running against Jason Miyares, the GREAT Attorney General in Virginia, made SICK and DEMENTED jokes, if they were jokes at all, which were not funny, and that he wrote down and sent around to people, concerning the murdering of a Republican Legislator, his wife, and their children. Abigail Spanberger, who is running for Governor, is weak and ineffective, and refuses to acknowledge what this Lunatic has done. Even Democrats are saying it is “RESIGNATION FROM CAMPAIGN” TERRITORY. Democrat Jay Jones should drop out of the Race, IMMEDIATELY, and the People of Virginia must continue to have a GREAT Attorney General in Jason Miyares who, by the way, has my Complete and Total Endorsement — JASON WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN!
President Trump was also asked just yesterday about Jay Jones and the Virginia race by reporters onboard Air Force One.
He expressed shock that someone who would say the things Jay Jones said would even be ‘ALLOWED’ to run for a state’s top law enforcement position — as reported by Fox News:
President Donald Trump condemned Virginia Democratic attorney general nominee Jay Jones as an “animal” on Sunday, saying anyone else would find themselves “in prison” for his text messages wishing death on political opponents.
Trump made the comments while talking to reporters aboard Air Force One, just days after Jones had repeatedly bashed the president in a campaign debate in Virginia last week. Reporters pressed Trump on whether he planned to weigh in on the attorney general contest.
“He’s a third-rate intellect, he’s a guy who – I’ve never seen anybody say what he said, that he wanted to kill his opponent’s children – he wanted to kill his opponent,” Trump said. “I can’t imagine anybody voting for Jay Jones. Look, you would think he’s totally discredited. I would think he wouldn’t even be allowed to do that; anybody would be put in prison for what he said.”
In messages first reported earlier this month, Jones texted Virginia state lawmaker Carrie Coyner in 2022, imagining a scenario where he would choose to “fire two bullets” into then-House Speaker Todd Gilbert’s head, describing Gilbert as worse than dictators Pol Pot and Adolf Hitler.
Jones also referred to Gilbert’s young children as “fascists” in the exchange.
The controversy hasn’t stopped prominent Virginia Democrats from endorsing Jones, however. Virginia gubernatorial candidate Abigail Spanberger endorsed Jones prior to the controversy and has since declined to withdraw the endorsement. Her campaign website is also still selling Jones-branded merchandise.
Here’s the clip of the President’s response yesterday, in which he calls Jones ‘the animal’:
Reporter: “Jay Jones in Virginia…”
Trump: “You mean the one that wanted to kill somebody’s children? You mean the animal that wanted to kill somebody, who should not be allowed to be running for that office?”pic.twitter.com/jD9HyDn1eo

The race isn’t over yet.
But with the election looming EXACTLY two weeks from today, this is not the sort of news Virgina Democrats and Jay Jones’ campaign officials were hoping to hear.
And it’s EXACTLY the sort of thing that everyone SICK AND TIRED of the dangerous and violent rhetoric of that group wanted to hear!
Go, Jason, go!!!
Absolutely VILE “Kill Their Children” Text Messages From Democrat Candidate
Meet Jay Jones, leading candidate for Attorney General in Virginia.
Charming man, except for the leaked text messages that just came out where he says he wants to murder a Republican legislator, his wife, and their children, and then piss all over their graves.
Don't believe me?
Take a look:

Here are the text messages:

Might be a little easier to read here with this labelling:

Sick stuff!
"Three people, two bullets"
"I will go to their funerals and piss on their graves!"
This is a sicko who should be completely disqualified from ever holding any role in public service.
Even President Trump weighed in:

Donald J. Trump
@realDonaldTrumpIt has just come out that the Radical Left Lunatic, Jay Jones, who is running against Jason Miyares, the GREAT Attorney General in Virginia, made SICK and DEMENTED jokes, if they were jokes at all, which were not funny, and that he wrote down and sent around to people, concerning the murdering of a Republican Legislator, his wife, and their children.

And for the visual learners out there who prefer video, watch Tucker break it all down here:
There's a very tight race for Attorney General. It's one of those positions that very few people outside of politics consider important, but within politics, it's considered the key position in the state. It's the head lawyer in the state. That person has an awful lot of power.
And the race in Virginia includes the Republican incumbent standing up against a 36-year-old man called Jay Jones. Jay Jones is a former delegate in the Virginia House. And a few years ago, Jay Jones became very annoyed, apparently, with the head Republican in the House of Delegates, and he expressed his anger at this man in a text exchange with a Republican delegate, interesting, with a woman. And that text exchange unfolded this way.
Now, I'm gonna read this verbatim and you can decide whether this is lacking context or not. So this is Jay Jones, the 36-year-old then delegate, Black guy, now running for Attorney General. And he's talking with a man called Todd Gilbert, the head Republican in the Virginia House. And he says of Gilbert, he's speaking to Kerry Conyer, who's a fellow delegate, a Republican, he says, "If these guys go before me, if they die before me, I will go to their funerals to piss on their graves, send them out awash in something."
To which Kerry Conyer, clearly is kind of a decent person, says, "Jay Jones!" And then Jones responds this way. "Three people, two bullets. Gilbert, Hitler, and Pol Pot. Gilbert gets two bullets to the head. Spoiler.
Put Gilbert and the crew with the two worst people you know, and he receives both bullets every time." "Jay!" says Kerry Conyers, "Please stop!" Jay says, "LOL OKOK." Then she says, "It really bothers me when you talk about hurting people or wishing death on them. It isn't okay, no matter who they are." So at this point, she calls him, Kerry Conyers calls Jay Jones and says, "I'm really bothered by our text exchange.
Do you mean that? Do you really wish death on the head Republican in the House?" And Jay Jones says, "Not only do I wish death on him and his wife, I also wish death on their children." He says that. And we know he says it 'cause he repeats it in this text exchange which followed their phone conversation. He says—she says this to Jay Jones.
"You weren't simply asking questions and you know it." Jones: "I genuinely was. I wasn't attacking you. I was trying to understand your logic." She says, "You weren't trying to understand. You were hoping Jennifer Gilbert's children would die."
ADVERTISEMENTTo which you would expect Jay Jones to say, "I don't want her kids to die. I was just trying to make a rhetorical point," right? Nope. Jay Jones says, "Yes. I do want them to die.
I've told you this before. Only when people feel pain personally do they move on policy." To which Conyers says, "I point-blank asked you more than three times and you dug in that you meant it. I'm honestly questioning a lot today." And he writes back, in the clearest sentence ever uttered in a private text exchange, "I mean, I do think Todd and Jennifer are evil and they're breeding little fascists.
Yes. I think that. They're evil and they're breeding little fascists who deserve to die." This is not one of those text exchanges where you have to guess at the context or the intent. This is an exchange between two people, one of whom is calling for the murder of children, and the other is trying really hard from the context here to talk him out of thinking that.
"You don't really mean that, do you, Jay Jones?" "Yes, I do. Yes, I do mean that." Now, there are so many levels of irony here. The most obvious is this is a leading Democrat who wants to be the chief law enforcement officer in the state, who is a gun control advocate calling for the murder of kids. Okay?
And calling for the murder of kids because they're related to adults he doesn't like. This is African ethics. This is the Hutu mentality. This is guilt by blood. There is nothing less Western than this.
