New details have been released on the cause of death of world champion boxer Ricky Hatton.
A coroner in Manchester, England has revealed the preliminary cause of death for Hatton was from a hanging.
Police however have not revealed a cause of death for Hatton and are still investigating his death.
CNN had more details to report on Hatton’s tragic death:
An inquest into the death of former world boxing champion Ricky Hatton has disclosed that he likely died by hanging at his home on September 14, according to PA Media.
Manchester South senior coroner Alison Mutch told the inquest hearing that the provisional cause of death was hanging. The coroner’s court heard that Hatton had been found “unresponsive” by his manager Paul Speak at his home in Manchester on September 14.
Police previously did not announce a cause of death.
According to PA, the court heard that Hatton had last been seen by his family on September 12 and had appeared “well.”
But Hatton missed an appearance at an event a day later and his manager had arrived at his house on the morning of the 14th to take him to a flight to Dubai, where Hatton was found unresponsive.
His manager released the following statement:
Ricky Hatton's manager, @SpeakPaul, has opened up on Ricky's death just under two weeks on from that tragic day and revealed that Hatton was "in a good place."
Speak was the person who found Ricky at his home on September 14th.

BBC reported a final report of the investigation will be released in March of 2026:
Senior coroner Alison Mutch said they are awaiting the final cause of death, but it was indicated as hanging.
No family were in attendance.

Tributes poured in from the sporting world following news of Hatton’s death, with Amir Khan remembering him as “one of Britain’s greatest boxers” and Tyson Fury saying he was a “legend”.
Hatton was one of Britain’s most popular fighters, building a loyal following with more than 30,000 supporters travelling to Las Vegas for his title bout with Floyd Mayweather in 2007.
An inquest heard Ricky Hatton, 46, was found hanged by his manager at his £1.7m Hyde home on 14 Sept.
