This is completely disgusting behavior.
Katie Porter, the Democrat frontrunner for California Governor, was caught on video angrily cursing one of her staffers.
In the video, Porter is seen rehearsing her talking points when one of her staffers appear in the background.
Porter after noticing the staffer in the camera shot became infuriated and yelled at the staffer, “Get out of my f*cking shot!”
Politico broke down the video and added more context:
A newly surfaced video shows Katie Porter — the frontrunner in next year’s race for California governor — blasting a staffer who interrupted a meeting the former House member was taping for the Biden administration.
“Get out of my fucking shot!” Porter said after the employee came into view.
Video of the exchange, exclusively obtained by POLITICO Wednesday, shows an online conversation between Porter and then-Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm in July 2021. Several minutes in, Porter’s staffer interjected to correct something the Democratic representative had said about electric vehicles. Porter then reprimanded her employee, who had also previously appeared periodically in the background during the recording.
“You also were in my shot before that. Stay out of my shot,” Porter said.
The staffer, whom POLITICO is not identifying out of privacy concerns and who was not the source of the video, declined to comment.
A final, edited version of the webinar that was published by the Department of Energy did not include the exchange.
POLITICO’s reporting comes a day after a video went viral of Porter threatening to walk out of an interview with a California CBS News affiliate. The newly surfaced meeting will almost certainly add to criticism of Porter’s judgment and temperament as the frontrunner in the race to succeed California Gov. Gavin Newsom.
For years, Porter has contended with accusations that she was a difficult boss or abusive to employees during her time in Congress, along with unrelated domestic disputes.
In a statement Wednesday, Porter said she’s striving to do better by her staff.

The Hill reported Porter also recently got testy in an interview after being asked about Trump voters:
California gubernatorial candidate and former Rep. Katie Porter (D-Calif.) tried to end an interview with a reporter after she was asked what she would say to voters in the state who voted for President Trump.
“What do you say to the 40 percent of California voters, who you’ll need in order to win, who voted for Trump?” CBS News correspondent Julie Watts asked Porter in a sit-down interview that aired Tuesday and quickly went viral.
When asked whether she thinks she will win the other 60 percent of California voters, Porter responds “In a general election? Yes. If it is me versus a Republican, I think I will win the people who did not vote for Trump.”
Watts then asks Porter what she thinks would happen if it was her versus another Democrat, to which Porter said, “I don’t intend that to be the case.” Porter argued she has already built support in terms of name recognition.
Porter then appeared to become irritated when Watts pressed her, saying the interview was becoming “unnecessarily argumentative.” Watts said CBS News has asked the other reporters in the race the same question.
