President Trump’s visit to the United Nations did not start off smoothly today.
First, the escalator ‘broke’ as soon as he and First Lady Melania Trump stepped onto it.
Notably, only the side President Trump and Melania stepped onto stopped moving.
And then, as President Trump started his speech onstage, the teleprompter also mysteriously stopped working.
See for yourself:
This is insane…
As Trump arrived to the UN, the escalator stopped working the moment he stepped on it.
Then the teleprompter stopped working the moment he got up to the podium to speak. pic.twitter.com/XBTgfr6zJ8

In true Trump-fashion, President Trump carried on with his speech, without the teleprompter telling him what to say.
In fact, the off-the-cuff speech President Trump gave was probably much better than what was written on the teleprompter
We covered more of his impromptu speech here:
President Trump’s Teleprompter Breaks At The UN, So He Goes Off-Script and “From The Heart”
But, what happened today with the escalator and the teleprompter should not be overlooked.
Are we expected to believe that both of these things were just mere accidents?
I really don't think anyone is foolish enough to believe that it was just a stroke of bad luck.
It's pretty clear that someone was behind it, trying to sabotage President Trump's visit.
In fact, as it turns out, there is evidence that escalator malfunction may have been part of a dumb plan to 'prank' President Trump.
Over the weekend, The Times reported that UN staff members were joking about doing something like this.
In a post on X, Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt pointed out:
If someone at the UN intentionally stopped the escalator as the President and First Lady were stepping on, they need to be fired and investigated immediately.
The Times reported this on Sunday.👇 pic.twitter.com/NitsWbGYG0

Oddly, it appears that that article has since been slightly edited to clarify the motive of the 'prank': to hit back against President Trump's refusal to keep giving billions upon billions of dollars to the UN.
Here's what The Times article says now:
Meanwhile, UN organisers have been joking about stunts they could pull to highlight the funding shortage. One idea doing the rounds: turn off the escalators and elevators and simply tell him they ran out of money, so he has to walk up the stairs.
Regardless of the reason, it's almost funny how dumb this move was.
They should have expected President Trump to turn it right back around on them, which is exactly what he did at the end of his speech...
Watch this:
TRUMP: "I ended seven wars ... I never even received a phone call from the United Nations offering to help..."
"These are the two things I got from the United Nations: a bad escalator and a bad teleprompter. Thank you very much." pic.twitter.com/3SeYZVwmiY

Even though President Trump shook it off and got the last laugh, Karoline Leavitt is absolutely right.
Whoever was responsible for the 'mishaps' during President Trump's UN visit today should be held accountable for their actions.
