CNN reported Trump also addressed NATO and AG Pam Bondi while he was exiting the White House:
President Donald Trump briefly spoke with reporters before he departed for Charlie Kirk’s memorial in Arizona.
The president answered questions about Russia’s recent breaches of NATO allies’ airspace and the Department of Justice potentially prosecuting several political foes.
Here’s what he said:
Defense of Poland and Baltic states from Russia: Trump told reporters he would defend the countries from Russia if necessary. “Yeah, I would,” he told reporters while leaving the White House for Arizona to attend Kirk’s memorial service. Trump’s comments come after breaches over the airspaces of several NATO member countries in the past week.
Pressure on Justice Department: “Pam Bondi is doing a great job,” he told reporters. “I think Pam Bondi is going to go down as one of the best attorney generals of the ages.” The comments come after Trump in a social media post Saturday put pressure on Bondi to bring criminal charges against several political adversaries, including New York Attorney General Letitia James. Trump suggested in a subsequent post Saturday he does have confidence in Bondi, whom he described as “very careful.”
