Jimmy Kimmel is facing more than just public backlash for pushing FAKE NEWS about the suspect facing murder charges for the death of Charlie Kirk.
He may be in serious legal trouble, as well.
Kimmel isn’t exactly the poster boy for fair and accurate reporting.
He never has been. (I’m thinking of all the false narratives he’s propped up against President Trump over the years.)
After all, he’s a comedian. “Reporting” isn’t really in his wheelhouse, right?
At least that’s how it USED to be.
But the era of late-night talk show hosts taking jabs at anyone and everyone in the name of comedic license is mostly a bygone era — along with most of the good jokes, it would seem.
Nowadays, most of what masquerades as late-night comedy is nothing more than the media propagandist wing of leftist political organizations doing the bidding of their financial benefactors; or else.
Enter Jimmy Kimmel.
Everyone knows the first reports are often wrong and can be skewed by the ‘fog of war’ as highly emotional events unfold in the news cycle.
But there’s a difference between waiting for the truth… and PROPAGATING A LIE even when it’s emphatically shown to be one.
That’s where Jimmy Kimmel is being accused of crossing the line regarding his “reporting” of FAKE NEWS about Tyler Robinson.
Not only has Kimmel skipped right over ALL the information coming from the FBI, Utah police, and DA’s office working the case against Charlie Kirk’s alleged killer; that not only was the suspected shooter not a ‘woke’ leftist radicalized by Democrat propaganda…
Kimmel seems hell bent on convincing Americans that the suspect was actually MAGA!
Check out this clip shared by Benny Johnson of Kimmel’s Monday night “reporting” on that ridiculously untrue false narrative:
ABC holds taxpayer-funded broadcast licenses with the explicit legal duty to serve in the ‘public interest’ with fair and truthful coverage.
Yet Jimmy Kimmel went on air and told the ABC audience that Charlie Kirk’s assassin was a MAGA conservative, effectively blaming Charlie… pic.twitter.com/9m3XD1AB7i

Here’s a full screen version of that clip for convenience:

And here’s the full text of Benny Johnson’s post on X, in which he outlines the legal issues that seem to be already arising as a result of Kimmel’s false reporting of the facts:
ABC holds taxpayer-funded broadcast licenses with the explicit legal duty to serve in the ‘public interest’ with fair and truthful coverage.
Yet Jimmy Kimmel went on air and told the ABC audience that Charlie Kirk’s assassin was a MAGA conservative, effectively blaming Charlie Kirk for his own assassination.
Then he accusing the right of covering it up to “score political points.”
ADVERTISEMENTAll of these statements are false and malicious lies told at the expense of one of the most horrific acts of left-wing political violence in American history.
If ABC refuses to issue a full on-air apology from Kimmel and corrective action their broadcast license should be revoked by the federal government immediately. I have reached out to the @FCC and @BrendanCarrFCC for comment and action on this issue.
These are the kind of vicious, dehumanizing lies that led to this current moment of radicalized, deadly leftist violence.
@ABC must be held accountable.
To be clear, we’re not talking about enforcing some conservative version of “hate speech” legislation — (which is nothing but an illogical blackhole of objective reason in and of itself).
The issue on the table isn’t Kimmel’s basic “right” to spout lies, as an American citizen protected under the Constitution, if he so well chooses.
This case it more nuanced, and more REGULATED than that.
But even the mountain of evidence leading to the reasonable conclusion that the suspect is a leftist — essentially the opposite of MAGA — didn’t stop Kimmel, as covered in this report from Fox News:
ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel insinuated Turning Point USA co-founder Charlie Kirk’s alleged assassin was a member of the “MAGA gang” while mocking President Donald Trump’s response to his death during his show Monday night.
The “Jimmy Kimmel Live” host brought up the matter during his monologue and claimed right-wing critics were hitting “new lows” trying to frame the suspect, 22-year-old Utah native Tyler Robinson, as someone who wasn’t “MAGA.”
Kimmel’s comments came one day after both FBI officials and Utah Gov. Spencer Cox said that Robinson held a “leftist ideology” and was increasingly radicalized in recent years.
“It’s fairly obvious this was an ideologically motivated attack,” FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino told Fox News on Monday.
ADVERTISEMENTA source familiar with the investigation also told Fox News Digital that the FBI is investigating leftist groups in Utah to see if they had any connection to the alleged shooter.
On Tuesday, authorities released new details about Robinson during a press conference. Law enforcement revealed text messages between Robinson and his roommate and romantic partner, who is a transgender woman.
As Benny Johnson pointed out in the post I shared earlier, there is a legal framework by which the ‘public interest’ is safeguarded in the way taxpayer-funded broadcast licenses are handed out.
So while Kimmel could have arguably JOKED about the suspected assassin being MAGA, without exposing himself to potential legal liability…
REPORTING false information and knowingly misrepresenting that information as true to the American people is exactly the sort of thing that has become far too common among “comedic” late-night talk shows.
Check out this AMAZINGLY PROPHECTIC clip of Johnny Carson on the future of late-night comedy shows in America being used in exactly this way:
Any time you watch a clip of Johnny Carson, you realize what a steaming pile of trash Jimmy Kimmel and late-night “comedy” have become. pic.twitter.com/DhD7vKmA30
— ForAmerica (@ForAmerica) September 17, 2025
As Johnny Carson said, “You could sway people” by using that so-called comedic platform as a subversive means of “reporting” false information.
Which is exactly what has happened in America.
Dare I say it is one of the most prolific multipliers of what President Trump coined as “fake news”? (Yes — I dare say it.)
If it weren’t for those like Megyn Kelly, willing to hold the line against the nonstop false narratives, would the average American even have enough information to know the truth behind these fake stories?
Here’s Megyn Kelly’s hit back against Kimmel’s most recent gaslighting:
And while we’re on the topic of those pushing back against the left-leaning false narratives…
If you’re ever in need of quality programming hitting back at those lies, conservative Rita Panahi has a show on Australia’s Sky News called “Lefties Losing It”.
She brings the fire, and she did in this case as well:
As Panahi said, “the left calls telling the truth… hateful.”
If you understand that, it becomes a key to unravelling the illogical rhetoric behind so many of the left’s false narratives.
Unfortunately for Kimmel, this isn’t a dead-end conversation of “we think” vs “they think”.
FCC Chairman Brendan Carr is contemplating an investigation after Kimmel’s comments that the suspected killer is actually part of the “MAGA gang”, according to reporting from The Daily Mail:
Late-night host Jimmy Kimmel could be probed by federal investigators after telling his audience that Charlie Kirk’s suspected killer was a MAGA supporter.
Federal Communications Commission boss Brendan Carr told podcaster Benny Johnson he was considering an investigation into Kimmel and his network ABC over remarks the star made about suspected shooter Tyler Robinson, 22, in the wake of Kirk’s murder.
Prosecutors say the suspect – who was charged with killing Kirk at a meeting in Orem, Utah – actually had leftist leanings.
The FCC’s warning is likely to spook bosses at ABC, who settled with Trump for $16 million in December 2024 after Good Morning America host George Stephanopoulos said Trump had been found civilly liable for the rape of writer E. Jean Carroll.
Investigators have suggested their suspect – who had a transgender girlfriend – disliked Kirk because of his anti-LGBT views.
Again, I want to emphasize that this is not an issue of a federal agency investigating “hate speech”.
That issue is also front and center as the aftermath of Charlie Kirk’s death plays out across so many levels of American society.
And we have covered that issue concerning Pam Bondi’s unfortunate comments here:
AG Pam Bondi Faces Calls to RESIGN Over “Hate Speech” Remarks Following Charlie Kirk Assassination
But the issue revolving around Jimmy Kimmel's comments is something less akin to the freedom of speech of an individual American.
It is something covered expressly under the laws that regulate taxpayer-funded broadcast licensing, and the built-in safeguards to prevent wholesale DECEIT of the public.
FCC Chairman Carr explained some of those issues related to Jimmy Kimmel's comments in this situation just today, as referenced in the article I quoted from The Daily Mail.
Here's a clip showcasing some of the FCC Chairman's comments a short time ago:
BREAKING: The FCC Chairman is threatening immediate action against Jimmy Kimmel, ABC, and Disney for deliberately misleading the public by claiming Charlie Kirk’s assassin was a MAGA Conservative.
Chairman Brendan Carr calls Kimmel’s malicious lies are “truly sick” and says they… pic.twitter.com/mGhtGMPReI

And here is the full text from the post alongside that video shared by Benny Johnson:
BREAKING: The FCC Chairman is threatening immediate action against Jimmy Kimmel, ABC, and Disney for deliberately misleading the public by claiming Charlie Kirk’s assassin was a MAGA Conservative.
Chairman Brendan Carr calls Kimmel’s malicious lies are “truly sick” and says they should result in Kimmel's immediate suspension and may lead to ABC losing its broadcast license.
Chairman Carr confirms the agency has a “strong case” to hold Kimmel, ABC, and Disney accountable for spreading dangerous, politically motivated misinformation.
"This is a very, very serious issue right now for Disney. We can do this the easy way or the hard way. These companies can find ways to take action on Kimmel or there is going to be additional work for the FCC ahead."
"They have a license granted by us at the FCC, and that comes with it an obligation to operate in the public interest."
"There are calls for Kimmel to be fired. I think you could certainly see a path forward for suspension over this."
"The FCC could make a strong argument that this is sort of an intentional effort to mislead the American people about a very core fundamental fact, a very important matter."
"Disney needs to see some change here, but the individual licensed stations that are taking their content, it's time for them to step up and say this, you know, garbage to the extent that that's what comes down the pipe in the future isn't something that we think serves the needs of our local communities. But, but this sort of status quo is obviously not, not acceptable where we are."
Thank you for your strong leadership here, Chairman @BrendanCarrFCC
As Carr said in that video clip, this isn't a single isolated incident.
It is part of a systematic propagandizing of the American people in order to supplant the truth with false narratives to effect social and electoral realities in deceitful ways.
That doesn't fly under US law, and it appears it won't fly under the watch of the current FCC chairmanship.
A lot has changed over the past week -- I don't have to even say that to our readers... I am sure.
And one of those things that has changed is that LIES are no longer going to go unchallenged on legacy broadcast media, OR ANYWHERE, for that matter.
It remains to be seen whether the current backlash against Jimmy Kimmel will result in something substantial.
An investigation... an FCC ruling... or even actions on the part of Disney or ABC parent companies could result.
And we will bring you those updates as they happen with TRUTHFUL reporting, as always.
