A video being circulated on X shows a man taking TPUSA MAGA hats that were sitting on Charlie Kirk’s table, shortly after he was shot at Utah Valley University.
In the video, a young man is seen taking a hat, which results in law enforcement officers yelling at the man.
Newsweek provided more details on the incident:
A video shared on X shows people stealing hats after the fatal shooting of the influential conservative commentator Charlie Kirk on the campus of Utah Valley University on Wednesday.
Kirk, 31, was a conservative activist and popular influencer. He founded the right-leaning youth organization, Turning Point USA, in 2012 and was a long-time ally of President Donald Trump.
Kirk was delivering a speech under a campus tent in Orem, Utah, when he was struck in the neck by a single gunshot. Kirk collapsed, was rushed to a local hospital, and was later pronounced dead.
Reactions after the killing of Charlie Kirk, which has drawn widespread condemnation from all corners of the political spectrum, have been scrutinized online amid fears about the country’s escalating climate of political violence. TMZ apologized to viewers as one clip, while the outlet was livestreaming from its newsroom, appeared to show cheering and clapping in the background as reporters discussed the shooting. And MSNBC said it had fired political consultant Matthew Dowd following his comments about the activist’s death.
The video was shared by @suxiequite on TikTok. It shows a person taking hats from the merchandise tent, which bears the slogan “The American Comeback.”
The video shows one young man taking hats off of the table, as people off camera shout, “Grab me a hat.” The man is seen throwing a hat to a person and then taking two more.
Security then intervenes, shouting at the man, “What are you doing? Get the f*** out.”
At the end of the video, you can see a man picking up the hat. The hats are red and look similar to the Make America Great Again hat. There appears to be white text on the hat, but it is not clear in the video what the text reads.
