President Trump Reveals Which City Could Be Next to Get Federal Crime Crackdown (And It’s NOT Chicago)

After weeks of floating Chicago, IL as the next city to receive help from the federal government, President Trump just threw us a curveball.

Today, he announced that he might instead send federal help to New Orleans, LA.

President Trump says that this potential change in course is spurred on by New Orleans Gov. Jeff Landry, who wants him to come in and rid the city of crime.

President Trump is not giving up on the good people of Chicago, who are begging him for help.

But, he is considering whether to go there first or to go somewhere where the leadership will work with, rather than against him.

It makes a lot of sense, doesn’t it?

President Trump has offered to help clean up Chicago, but the Democrat leadership there continues to reject it.

Their mayor has gone so far as to sign an executive order in order to try to stop President Trump from deploying the National Guard.

The New York Post noted:

Pritzker, a possible 2028 presidential contender whose family controls the Hyatt hotel empire, said Tuesday he will continue to oppose any federal deployment — after 58 people were shot, eight fatally, over Labor Day weekend in America’s third-largest city.

“Chicago does not want troops on our streets,” Pritzker said. “I refuse to play a reality game show with Donald Trump again.”

Johnson signed an order Saturday restricting collaboration between the local police and federal agencies.

“This executive order makes it emphatically clear that this president is not going to come in and deputize our police department,” the mayor said.

Violent crime in both Chicago and New Orleans is trending downward — as was the case in DC prior to the federal intervention, according to local data — though skeptics argue that still-prevalent infractions have lifelong impacts on victims.

Chicago recorded 573 murders last year — a staggering number that nonetheless was the smallest figure in the city of 2.7 million since 2019 — and the homicide rate is on track to decline further, with 278 to date this year compared to 396 over the same period last year.

New Orleans logged 124 murders in 2024 — a 38% drop from 2023, but a much higher per capita figure in the city of just over 360,000 residents.

The Crescent City recorded 55 murders as of mid-July this year, which local news reports described as the lowest killing rate since the 1960s.

On the other hand, you have the Governor of New Orleans — who actually seems to care about the good and honest citizens in his city — asking President Trump to come give them help.

Instead of fighting with the government of Chicago, why not clean up New Orleans first?

Then, go for the Democrat strongholds, where it will be more difficult.

One by one, President Trump will make every U.S. city great again!

Wherever he decides to go next, I can’t wait to see it.
