Kamala Harris will receive protection from the California Highway Patrol (CHP), according to the Los Angeles Times.
The development follows President Trump’s revocation of her Secret Service detail.
The outlet explained that Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass and Gov. Gavin Newsom’s office coordinated the arrangement after the removal of Harris’ Secret Service protection.
“This is another act of revenge following a long list of political retaliation in the form of firings, the revoking of security clearances and more. This puts the former Vice President in danger and I look forward to working with the governor to make sure Vice President Harris is safe in Los Angeles,” Bass said in a statement, according to the Los Angeles Times.

More from the Los Angeles Times:
Trump signed a memorandum on Thursday ending Harris’ protection as of Monday, according to sources not authorized to discuss the security matter.
Former vice presidents usually get Secret Service protection for six months after leaving office, while ex-presidents get protection for life. But before his term ended, then-President Biden signed an order to extend Harris’ protection beyond six months to July 2026. Aides to Harris had asked Biden for the extension. Without it, her security detail would have ended last month, according to sources.
Gov. Gavin Newsom, who would need to sign off on such CHP protection, would not confirm the arrangement. “Our office does not comment on security arrangements,” said Izzy Gordon, a spokesperson for Newsom. “The safety of our public officials should never be subject to erratic, vindictive political impulses.”
Harris is about to begin a book tour for her memoir, titled “107 Days.”
The book tour has 15 stops, which include Los Angeles, New York City, Miami, Toronto, and London.

Social media users mocked Harris for going on a book tour about how she lost the 2024 presidential election.
The New York Post shared details:
This is a Guest Post from our friends over at 100 Percent Fed Up. View the original article here.Former Vice President Kamala Harris was dragged online Thursday after announcing an international tour to promote her new book recounting her failed 2024 presidential campaign.
The unemployed 60-year-old will kick off a 15-city tour on Sept. 24, a day after releasing her memoir “107 Days,” which offers a “behind-the-scenes” look at what the Democrat calls “the shortest presidential campaign in modern history,” according to a post on X.
The post included a short montage of her grinning ear-to-ear on the campaign trail, but social media users quickly panned it as a strange way to mark her crushing loss to President Trump.
“Never seen someone celebrating an L like that lol,” one user quipped, as another blasted it as “the loser tour.”
“How to blow 2.5B in 107 days,” another commenter added to ex-veep’s post.
Politicians, White House officials and conservative commentators also swiftly mocked Harris for traveling from New York and Canada to Washington, DC, and London to share a detailed diary of her brutal defeat.
