Law Firm Confirms President Trump Has Legal Grounds To FIRE Fed Governor Lisa Cook

President Trump has the law on his side when it comes to firing Fed Governor Lisa Cook.

As the WLT Report previously reported, Fed Governor Lisa Cook is under fire for allegedly committing mortgage fraud.

A legal memorandum prepared by the Law Firm Lex Politica and released by Azoria has revealed that President Trump has legal grounds to fire Fed Governor Lisa Cook.

In the memo released by Lex Politica, it reveals President Trump has the legal authority to remove Governor Cook “for cause” if the allegations that Cook committed mortgage fraud or lied on federal forms are confirmed.

Here’s the summary released by Lex Politica below:

President Trump clearly has authority to remove Governor Cook “for cause,” assuming the allegations of mortgage fraud or lying on federal ethics forms are confirmed. For example, if President Trump and his staff review documentary evidence of Governor Cook’s relevant transactions—obtained through proper procedural channels—and find that such evidence substantiates the allegations of mortgage fraud or lying on federal ethics forms, this would justify removal for cause.

The DOJ’s investigation of Governor Cook’s alleged conduct and any charges that the DOJ ultimately files further support removal for cause, but we do not believe that an indictment is necessary before the President may remove Governor Cook
“for cause” under the Federal Reserve Act.

Based on publicly available information, President Trump clearly has authority to remove Governor Cook “for cause,” assuming the allegations of mortgage fraud or lying on federal ethics forms are confirmed. The DOJ’s investigation of the foregoing conduct and any charges filed provide additional cause for removal, but we do not believe that an indictment is necessary to remove Governor Cook for cause.

President Trump on Friday told the press if Cook doesn’t resign he will fire her.

CNBC reported on the significance of Cook possibly being removed:

President Donald Trump said Friday he will fire Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook if she does not resign from her position.

“What she did was bad,” the president told reporters who asked about Cook, an appointee of former President Joe Biden who has come under fire from the Trump administration over allegations about her mortgages.

“So I’ll fire her if she doesn’t resign,” he said during a surprise visit to The People’s House, a museum of the White House.

If Trump were to successfully remove Cook “for cause,” he would get the chance to reshape the central bank’s governing board, potentially for years to come.

Two of the seven current governors, Christopher Waller and Michelle Bowman, are Trump appointees. Both dissented from the Fed’s most recent decision to hold interest rates steady.

Another seat opened up earlier this summer, when Adriana Kugler announced she would step down.

If Trump is able to remove Cook, he would appoint her successor — potentially ensuring that a majority of the board shares his view on monetary policy. Board members serve 14-year terms.
