DOJ Maxwell Tapes Suggest Epstein May Have Been Set Up On Date With Princess Diana

It was rather interesting to find this on Ghislaine Maxwell’s interview tapes released by the DOJ.

The new prison interview tapes of convicted sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell suggest convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein may have been set up on a date with Princess Diana.

In her interview with Deputy AG Todd Blanche, Maxwell shared that Epstein was invited to a British royal event, where she believes he may have been set up as a date for Princess Diana.

The Daily Beast reported more on the explosive revelation made by Maxwell:

Jeffrey Epstein may have been set up on a date with Princess Diana in London, according to explosive testimony by Ghislaine Maxwell.

In tapes released on Friday by the Department of Justice, Maxwell, 63, said she believes Epstein went to London to meet with Diana.

Ghislaine spoke to DOJ deputy AG Todd Blanche for two days last month.

Maxwell also claimed in the interview that Prince Andrew’s former wife, Sarah Ferguson, was “putting the moves” on Epstein soon after he met the British royals.

Talking about Epstein’s alleged courtship of Diana, Maxwell said the financier went to a “big event” in the U.K. without her. “I don’t know if he sat with Diana or he met with Diana and he’d already met her. I don’t know, but this, I believe was organized by Rosa,” she added.

Maxwell continued: “I don’t know if she was being set up as a date for him, maybe because she was… I don’t want to speak bad of Diana, but… I’m not going to do that.”

Maxwell said that before she met Epstein, he lived in London for a while in the 1980s, and he knew some “high society people,” including Princess Diana’s best friend. “Her name was Rosa Monckton. And Rosa’s husband, Dominic Lawson, who’s a famous journalist,” she said.

Maxwell was speaking to Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche during a two-day interview last month. She agreed to discuss her relationship with Epstein despite refusing to testify at her trial. The former socialite and Epstein accomplice is currently serving a 20-year sentence for sex trafficking.

Epstein has long been linked to British royal circles.

Prince William previously settled a lawsuit with one of Epstein’s victims.

NPR reported more on the settlement:

Virginia Giuffre and Prince Andrew have agreed to a settlement that will end Giuffre’s lawsuit, which had accused Andrew of sexually abusing her when she was a minor. The two sides of the legal dispute jointly informed a federal court about the development on Tuesday.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. It includes a stipulation that the Duke of York will “make a substantial donation to Ms. Giuffre’s charity in support of victims’ rights,” according to a document filed by David Boies, an attorney for Giuffre.

The parties expect to file to dismiss the case within the next 30 days, when Giuffre confirms receipt of the settlement, Boies said.

News of the deal comes one month after a federal judge denied Andrew’s request to dismiss Giuffre’s case. Andrew’s lawyers had argued that Giuffre was precluded from suing him because of an earlier settlement she had reached with the disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein — whom Giuffre says arranged for Andrew to sexually abuse her when she was a minor.

Andrew has strongly denied the allegations against him, stating that he did not participate in the sexual exploitation of minors or witness such behavior. Tuesday’s court filing touches on his very public denials of Giuffre’s accusations.

“Prince Andrew has never intended to malign Ms. Giuffre’s character, and he accepts that she has suffered both as an established victim of abuse and as a result of unfair public attacks,” the document states.

Giuffre has said Andrew sexually abused her in London, New York, and Little St. James, Epstein’s private island in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Her lawsuit includes the now-famous photo of Andrew with his arm around Giuffre’s waist — an image she says was taken shortly before he abused her.

A couple of years after the settlement was made, Giuffre commited suicide:
