BREAKING: Texas AG Ken Paxton Wins Big Against AWOL Democrats

Texas AG Ken Paxton just won a big victory against the Texas democrats who absconded from the state with every intention of thwarting Texas’ redistricting plans.

Paxton has been relentlessly pursuing an end to the work stoppage in the Texas Legislature as a result of derelict democrat lawmakers.

Many are waiting for word that the AWOL Texas House members have been arrested by Texas Rangers or State Police (or Kash Patel’s FBI — we’ll take what we can get).

In the meantime, the Texas Attorney General has been busy on several other fronts.

While we wait for what I consider the biggest news on the horizon in this situation — whether the Texas Supreme Court will agree with Paxton’s petition to declare at least 13 of those Texas legislative seats ‘vacant’…

The Texas Attorney General moved forward in other ways; specifically trying to dry up the flow of illegal and corrupt resources that the runaway lawmakers were using to get out of doing their jobs.

Not to mention holding up the work they were elected to do in the Texas House.

One move Paxton took just this morning was to bring a lawsuit requesting an emergency stoppage for the funding of hotel bills and living expenses coming from Beto O’Rourke.

Paxton brought a lawsuit, and a Tarrant County judge (that’s Arlington, smack dab between Dallas and Ft. Worth for all the non-Texans) AGREED with Paxton:

AG Paxton unapologetically flaunted his successful bid to dry up the funds for the missing democrats.

After several of the lawmakers used a very Texan taunt on social media to emphasize their unwillingness to come to heel…

Paxton called their bluff, and then openly mocked them online about it:

Here’s the text of Paxton’s answer to the democrats’ pitiful “Come and take it” taunt in case that was hard to read:

BREAKING: I just defeated Beto O’Rourke in court.

We secured a major victory stopping runaway Democrats from taking “Beto Bribes” and preventing deceptive fundraising.

They told me to “come and take it,” so I did.

There is a hearing scheduled for Aug. 19th — basically a week and a half away.

But for now, Judge Fahey presiding over a Tarrant County state district court completely shut down any notion of Beto O’Rourke (did you know his real name is actually Robert Francis O’Rourke?) bankrolling those missing democrats with unlawful funds.

She put an order in place based on the likelihood that “irreparable” harm is likely being caused to the State of Texas, and agreed that Francis’ (I’m going to call him by his REAL name at least half the time from now on) financial assistance was exactly what Paxton said it was, according to a report from The Hill:

A Texas judge granted Attorney General Ken Paxton (R) a temporary restraining order in his suit against former Rep. Beto O’Rourke (D-Texas) and his political group, Powered by People. The ruling came just hours after Paxton sued claiming unlawful fundraising activity to help Democratic state House members who fled the state to stall a GOP redistricting plan.

“Democrat runaways are likely accepting Beto Bribes to underwrite their jet-setting sideshow in far-flung places and misleadingly raising political funds to pay for personal expenses,” Paxton said in a release announcing the suit.

Judge Megan Fahey wrote in granting the request that “the Court finds that harm is imminent to the State, and if the Court does not issue the Temporary Restraining Order, the State will be irreparably injured.” Fahey said O’Rourke and his group’s fundraising “constitutes false, misleading, or deceptive acts” under state statute.

The order says Powered By People must not fundraise or use funds already raised to cover travel, hotel bills or dining for “unexcused Texas legislators during any special legislative session called by the Texas Governor.” A hearing is scheduled for Aug. 19 on a temporary injunction requested in Paxton’s suit.

The Texas Tribune reported this week that Powered by People has been one of the top funders covering costs for the quorum breakers, including air travel and logistical support, though it’s not the only group helping out.

The lawsuit Paxton brought was only filed a few hours before the judge’s verdict and that temporary restraining order put in place.

There might be a few democrats in northern states trying to figure out how to pay their expensive hotel bills tonight… since their BetoBlue Card seems to be tapped out.

The lawsuit sprang from an investigation the Texas AG’s office launched a few days ago expressly with this end in mind, as Paxton shared on Wednesday:

And just before the judge slapped Beto’s organization with a restraining order…

FRANCIS tried to counter sue Paxton, as the local NBC affiliate out of Houston reported earlier this afternoon:

I still don’t have any details, really, on what Beto (should read FRANCIS) went after Paxton for.

Except maybe the social media creds for just being able to say he did SOMETHING in the face of Paxton’s unrelenting assault on this entire game by the democrats.

Beto did hit back — or tried to — on social media.

At the risk of spoiling the surprise, I’ll let the cat out of the bag early on that attempt.

It didn’t go well for Beto; either in court, or verbally on social media, as reported by the Texas Tribune:

Tarrant County District Judge Megan Fahey granted Paxton’s request for a temporary injunction, barring O’Rourke and Powered by People from fundraising for the Democrats or spending money to cover their expenses. The order came less than four hours after Paxton’s office filed the petition.

In her ruling, Fahey agreed with Paxton’s contention that Powered by People engaged in false, misleading or deceptive fundraising practices, and by distributing funds to Texas Democrats, writing in the ruling that the group either “directly violates or causes Texas Democratic Legislators” to violate state law and House procedures.

O’Rourke filed his own lawsuit against Paxton Friday in El Paso district court. He alleged that the attorney general was engaging in a “fishing expedition, constitutional rights be damned,” and asked the judge to block Paxton’s investigation into the organization’s practices.

“Paxton is trying to shut down Powered by People, one of the largest voter registration organizations in the country, because our volunteers fight for voting rights and free elections, the kind of work that threatens the hold that Paxton, [President Donald] Trump and Abbott have on power in Texas,” O’Rourke said.

Paxton responded on social media: “Cry more, lib.” (Emphasis Added.)

And that has to be the best thing I’ve read on social media all day long.

I am still laughing with tears from that simple response to Beto’s bellyaching.

Here’s that epic exchange in all it’s glory as it happened on X:

I’ll drop a screen shot of that here… just in case Beto decides he wants to erase that from the internet log:

“Cry more, lib” might become my new favorite conservative rallying cry.

To be fair (it’s just a figure of speech – I don’t mean anything by it) Beto also hit back against Paxton on his history of coming under investigation for alleged bribery and abuse of office.

That, also, was a non-starter.  That’s basically like saying you got pulled over by a Cop; in and of itself it’s really meaningless.

But, that’s all Beto had to bring, and he tried… according to The Blaze:

“The Beto Bribe buyouts that were bankrolling the runaway Democrats have been officially stopped,” reads a statement from Paxton. They told me to ‘come and take it,’ so I did.”

O’Rourke has responded to the allegations by attacking Paxton on his past controversies.

“The guy impeached for bribery is going after the folks trying to stop the theft of five Congressional seats,” he wrote in part. “Let’s stop these thugs before they steal our country.”

Paxton was under federal investigation for alleged bribery and abuse of office but was never charged. He is now running against current Republican Sen. John Cornyn of Texas for the Republican nomination.

Now I’m waiting on those livestreams from up north showing Texas democrat lawmakers crying about how they’re living in deplorable (I dare them to use that word…) situations.

They’ll probably claim to identify with those in Gaza, waiting on food distributions to be parachuted in.

While in reality… they are duly elected officials (allegedly?)… with paying jobs (on Texans’ dime!)… REFUSING to show up to their job!

Yeah — like Paxton said.

Cry more, lib.
