President Trump just threatened to take over control of Washington, D.C. in order to restore law and order in the city.
In a post on Truth Social, President Trump railed against escalating random acts of violence by gang members and “local youths” in Washington, D.C.
He called for D.C. leadership to “get its act together” — otherwise, he will federalize the city!

Crime in Washington, D.C., is totally out of control. Local “youths” and gang members, some only 14, 15, and 16-years-old, are randomly attacking, mugging, maiming, and shooting innocent Citizens, at the same time knowing that they will be almost immediately released. They are not afraid of Law Enforcement because they know nothing ever happens to them, but it’s going to happen now! The Law in D.C. must be changed to prosecute these “minors” as adults, and lock them up for a long time, starting at age 14. The most recent victim was beaten mercilessly by local thugs. Washington, D.C., must be safe, clean, and beautiful for all Americans and, importantly, for the World to see. If D.C. doesn’t get its act together, and quickly, we will have no choice but to take Federal control of the City, and run this City how it should be run, and put criminals on notice that they’re not going to get away with it anymore. Perhaps it should have been done a long time ago, then this incredible young man, and so many others, would not have had to go through the horrors of Violent Crime. If this continues, I am going to exert my powers, and FEDERALIZE this City. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!
While overall crime statistics in Washington, D.C. are trending down, the homicide rate is unchanged.
And, we’ve seen many random acts of violence take place recently, such as the shooting last month that killed a 21-year-old congressional intern.

He was working for Rep. Ron Estes (R-Kansas).A college student from Massachusetts working as an intern on Capitol Hill.
He was fatally shot Monday night near the Walter E. Washington Convention Center downtown, and D.C. police said he was apparently an innocent bystander caught in a spray of bullets intended for someone else.

To actually do this, President Trump would need the support of Congress.
Axios noted:
A full takeover of the District would require Congress to abolish the city’s home rule, which allows for a mayor and locally elected D.C. Council. Right now, only a handful of conservative Republicans support its repeal.
- The president could more easily take over the Metropolitan Police Department, and use other levers to pressure the city government.

It's ran by the Feds and their own laws however they see fit to enforce them.
Ever wondered why all the J6 Prisoners have been sitting rotting away in jail cells for over a year, when our Constitution has a little thing called Habeas Corpus?
It's because it's D.C. and they're not following the Constitution.
Wonder why Nancy Pelosi refused Trump's offer of the National Guard (National Guard coming from the STATES)?
Because she quite literally viewed it as an infringing militia coming into the Federal D.C. area.
All starting to make sense now?
In fact, it goes well beyond just J6 and D.C.
It explains the plan set in motion by Trump and the Patriots and how it goes back WAY earlier than 2016.
