JUST IN: Senate Narrowly Confirms Judge Jeanine Pirro as U.S. Attorney for D.C.

Before breaking for August recess, the Senate got one of President Trump’s most prominent nominees confirmed…Judge Jeanine Pirro.

As you may remember, President Trump appointed Jeanine Pirro as interim U.S. Attorney for D.C. in May after Republicans tanked his first choice, Ed Martin.

Today, the Senate confirmed Pirro to the permanent position of D.C. top prosecutor.

The vote was narrow — 50-45.

And, it’s not hard to see why…

Now, Pirro can focus on prosecuting corrupt D.C. politicans, like Adam Schiff and the rest.

Her confirmation comes shortly after another firebrand nominee was confirmed to a key judge role — President Trump’s former lawyer Emil Bove.

CBS News reported:

Pirro, a former county prosecutor and elected judge, was confirmed in a 50-45 vote. She has been in the job as U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia on an acting basis since May. Before then, she co-hosted “The Five” on Fox News on weekday evenings, where she frequently interviewed Mr. Trump.

The U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia is a powerful position with a huge staff, budget and portfolio. Her confirmation came days after the Senate approved the nomination of Emil Bove, Mr. Trump’s former defense lawyer, to serve on a U.S. appeals court.

Democrats highly opposed Pirro’s confirmation.

The New York Post said:

Pirro was confirmed despite House Democrats urging the GOP-led Senate to reject President Trump’s second hand picked nominee to lead the office, warning that the former co-host of Fox’s “The Five” would serve as a partisan tool for the White House.

“Over the past decade, Ms. Pirro has consistently demonstrated that her loyalty lies with Donald Trump the person, not with the Constitution or the rule of law,” Maryland Rep. Jamie Raskin wrote in a letter to Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), Courthouse News reported.

Pirro was tapped to serve as the capital’s top prosecutor after Senate Republicans balked at the president’s first choice, Ed Martin, leading Trump to yank his nomination.

In particular, Adam Schiff is big mad that Pirro got confirmed:

What are you scared of, Shifty Schiff?
