Multiple People Dead in Anaconda, Montana Shooting; Whole City Is On LOCKDOWN


A fatal shooting occurred in Anaconda, Montana, on Friday afternoon, resulting in several people being killed.

The ATF reported the suspect in the shooting is still at large.

Shortly after the suspect fled the scene, the Granite County Sheriff’s Office announced the city of Anaconda was on lockdown.

CBS News reported new details on the shooting:

Multiple people were shot in Anaconda, Montana, on Friday, the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives said. Authorities said a suspect is at large.
The ATF’s field division in Denver said on social media that the shooting happened at a business. Additional details weren’t immediately available.

Michael Paul Brown is seen in a photo posted to social media by authorities.

The Anaconda-Deer Lodge County Law Enforcement Department identified the suspect as Michael Paul Brown and said he was believed to be armed and dangerous.
“If seen do not approach,” the department said. “Contact 911 for any way to contact Michael Paul Brown.”

The sheriff’s office for neighboring Granite County said on social media that the suspect was wearing a tie-dye shirt, blue jeans and an orange bandana.

The city of Anaconda, Montana, is under lockdown after the Granite County Sheriff’s Office reported an active shooter at the downtown Owl Bar on Friday.
In a Facebook post, the sheriff’s office said the suspect is said to be wearing a tie‑dyed shirt, blue jeans and an orange bandana.

The sheriff’s office said the suspect’s house in Anaconda was cleared by SWAT team members, and the suspect is still at large. Authorities told residents to “stay vigilant” and report any “suspicious activity” to the Granite County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities said a white Ford F-150 that was being pursued was stopped in Deer Lodge County. The sheriff’s office said it “was not the suspect.”

“Stand by for more info as it comes,” the Granite County Sheriff’s Office wrote.

Officials said there is no threat to the citizens of Granite County at this time.

“Deputies are on standby at Flint creek pass and outside of town. Other agencies are in the Drummond area,” the sheriff’s office said.
