Tulane college basketball star Gregg Glenn III has died tragically at the age of 22.
Tulane’s Vice President of Student Affairs announced Glenn’s death in a letter over the weekend.
USA Today reported what caused Glenn’s death:
Gregg Glenn III, a Tulane men’s basketball player who started 34 games last season for the Green Wave, died over the weekend in what the university described in a release as a “tragic accident.”
He was 22 years old.
“He was a talented student-athlete who enriched our lives with his spirit, dedication, and passion for both sports and academics,” Sarah Cunningham, Tulane’s vice president of student affairs, wrote in a letter. “Gregg was an outstanding athlete on our men’s basketball team and an individual who brought joy and light to those around him. His commitment to excellence inspired many of us.”
In the release, Glenn, a rising senior, was described as someone with an “infectious personality, positive energy, and kindness” who “brightened every room he entered.”

The Daily Mail reported more details about Glenn’s college basketball career:
Glenn had transferred to the school from the University of Michigan after his freshman year, where he played four times for the team.
ADVERTISEMENTHe had averaged 10.6 points and 5.3 rebounds per game for his team across the course of last season.
‘The oldest of his siblings, Gregg was a Health & Wellness major from Pompano Beach, Florida.
‘Known for his infectious personality, positive energy, and kindness, he brightened every room he entered. Well known in the South Florida area for his basketball prowess, he will be greatly missed by many.’
The Tulane Men’s Basketball team added in their own announcement on X: ‘Our heartfelt sympathies go out to his family, friends, and everyone who knew and cared for him during this difficult time.’
