President Trump Reveals Melania Has Been Pushing Him To Get Tougher On Putin

This was a surprise.

During a meeting with the NATO Secretary General, President Trump revealed that First Lady Melania has convinced him to be a bit tougher with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Trump revealed that after he got off the phone with Putin, he would talk to Melania about their good conversation, but Melania would point out to him that Putin had just been offering him lip service.

President Trump on Monday suggested that first lady Melania Trump convinced him that Russian President Vladimir Putin has continually backed out of his promises over a possible peace deal with Ukraine.

Trump was meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte when he spoke with reporters about the ongoing war.

He explained that his wife pointed out Putin’s false promises following Trump’s phone calls with the Russian leader amid calls for a deal to end the conflict.

“I go home. I tell the first lady, ‘You know, I spoke to Vladimir today. We had a wonderful conversation.’ She said, ‘Oh, really? another city was just hit,'” he said.

“There’s times I’d get home. I’d say, ‘First lady, I had the most wonderful talk with Vladimir. I think we’re finished.’ And then I’ll turn on the television, or she’ll say to me one time, ‘Wow, that’s strange because they just bombed a nursing home,'” Trump recalled in another conversation. “I’d say, ‘What?’”

Moscow has repeatedly attacked Ukraine with drones and missiles following calls between Putin and Trump.

As Trump and Putin’s relationship begins to sour, the 47th president is giving more weapons to Ukraine, per the New York Post:

President Trump announced Monday the US will send “billions of dollars” worth of weapons to Ukraine via Washington’s NATO allies — and threatened to impose “secondary tariffs” on Moscow’s business partners in 50 days if no peace is agreed to end the 40-month-old war.

The weapons will include “everything,” Trump said during his meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte in the Oval Office — though the president did not immediately reveal specifics.

The White House also did not provide additional information on the specific weapons sent over to Europe.

When asked whether “Patriot missiles” — officially known as Guided Mulitple Launch Rocket Systems — or “Patriot batteries” would be sent to Ukraine, the president responded: “It is all of them. It is a full complement.”
