A high-ranking federal prosecutor has just called it quits in response to the indictment of illegal MS-13 gang member Kilmar Abrego Garcia.
Ben Schrader resigned from his position as Chief of the Criminal Division in the Nashville U.S. Attorney’s office — where Garcia is being charged.
His resignation date was two weeks ago, which corresponded with the date Abrego Garcia was indicted.
Ben Schrader announced his resignation in a LinkedIn post:
Ben Schrader, chief prosecutor in the Nashville based U.S. Attorney’s Office, apparently resigned right around the time the Abrego Garcia indictment came down.

Schrader’s full post read:
Earlier today, after nearly 15 years as an Assistant U.S. Attorney, I resigned as Chief of the Criminal Division at the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Tennessee. It has been an incredible privilege to serve as a prosecutor with the Department of Justice, where the only job description I’ve ever known is to do the right thing, in the right way, for the right reasons. I wish all of my colleagues at the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Nashville and across the Department the best as they seek to do justice on behalf of the American people.
ABC News confirmed Schrader’s reasons for quitting:
The decision to pursue the indictment against Abrego Garcia led to the abrupt departure of Ben Schrader, a high-ranking federal prosecutor in Tennessee, sources briefed on Schrader’s decision told ABC News. Schrader’s resignation was prompted by concerns that the case was being pursued for political reasons, the sources said.
Schrader, who spent 15 years in the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Nashville and was most recently the chief of the criminal division, declined to comment when contacted by ABC News.
After spending months fighting his deportation to El Salvador, Kilmar Abrego Garcia is now back in the United States to face criminal charges for “illegally transporting undocumented migrants.”
He could face up to ten years in prison for each illegal alien he transported.
Full scoop on that here:
AG Pam Bondi has announced that the plan is to eventually send Abrego Garcia back to El Salvador after he serves out his sentence in a U.S. prison:
🚨 #BREAKING: Pam Bondi officially announces Kilmar Abrego Garcia will be returned to the US after the DOJ uncovered he made OVER 100 SMUGGLING TRIPS of illegals
A grand jury found human trafficking was Garcia's FULL TIME JOB, and he frequently ABUSED women.

Apparently Mr. Schrader had a big issue with prosecuting this (alleged) wife-beating gang member who was involved with human trafficking as a business.
Good riddance.
We don't need those kind of people working for our justice system.
