Italian PM Giorgia Meloni Unites With President Trump: “Make the West Great Again”

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni paid President Trump a visit at the White House today amid impending tariffs against the EU.

During the meeting, Giorgia Meloni coined a new phrase that I think we can all get behind, telling President Trump that she wants to “Make the West Great Again.”

Meloni noted that she hoped to achieve that goal together with President Trump, to which he responded, “We can.”

Absolutely beautiful. This is the kind of alliance we need — a true ally in spirit and ambitions.

Prime Minister Meloni also said that President Trump has accepted her invitation to visit Rome next.

NEW: Meloni just called on Trump to form a historic alliance between Italy and the U.S. to ‘Make the West Great Again.’

This wasn’t your typical diplomatic moment—it was a clear shot across the bow of globalism.

Meloni made it clear: the fight to save the West isn’t about maps or borders.

“When I speak about West, mainly I don’t speak about a geographical space,” she said.

“I speak about a civilization.”

“And I want to make that civilization stronger.”

She acknowledged the rift between the U.S. and Europe—but said now’s the time to fix it.

Then came the invitation:

“I want to thank President Trump for having accepted an invitation to pay an official visit to Rome… and consider the possibility in that occasion to meet also with Europe.”

And she closed with the line that said it all:

“The goal for me is to ‘Make the West Great Again.’”

Meloni isn’t just fighting for Italy—she’s fighting for the survival of Western civilization.

And Trump? He might be the only one with the strength to help her do it.

U.S. President Donald Trump has agreed to an official visit to Rome and will consider also meeting representatives of the European Union while there, Italy’s Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said on Thursday in the Oval Office.

Meloni’s U.S. trip came amid a tariff row between Washington and Brussels and was seen as an attempt to facilitate dialogue and leverage the good relationship between the two leaders following a U.S. decision to pause most duties for 90 days.

Trump called Meloni – who was the only EU leader invited to his inauguration in January – a “very special person” and “a friend” who “has taken Europe by storm”, while the Italian leader said they both shared the fight against “woke” ideology.

“I want to thank President Trump for having accepted an invitation to pay an official visit to Rome in the near future and consider the possibility, on that occasion, to meet also with Europe,” Meloni said speaking next to the U.S. leader.

The White House shared this great photo of President Trump’s meeting with Meloni:

Prime Minister Meloni broke with the European Union, deciding to come to the United States to negotiate a trade deal of her own for Italy.

President Trump told reporters at the White House that “there will be a trade deal, 100%” with Italy.

Fox Business has more:

The U.S. and the European Union will absolutely strike a trade deal amid looming tariffs, according to President Donald Trump.

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni’s visit to Washington comes amid a pause in harsh tariffs against the European Union and other countries that could go into effect in June. But Trump said the U.S. and the EU would lock down a deal before then.

“There will be a trade deal, 100%,” Trump told reporters at the White House on Thursday. “Of course there will be a trade deal, they want to make one very much, and we’re going to make a trade deal. I fully expect it, but it’ll be a fair deal.”

When asked whether she viewed the U.S. as a reliable trading partner, Meloni said that she wouldn’t be visiting the White House unless that were the case. Meloni also voiced optimism about securing a trade deal with the U.S., and said her goal is to invite Trump to meetings on behalf of Italy and Europe to advance those talks.

“I think the best way is that we simply speak frankly about the needs that every one of us has and find ourselves in the middle for that’s useful for all,” Meloni told reporters on Thursday.
