DHS Secretary Kristi Noem Cuts MORE Funding, Gives Epic Ultimatum to Harvard University

Yesterday, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem cut another $2.7 million in grants to Harvard University.

This is in addition to the Trump administration pulling billions of dollars in funding and the IRS rescinding Harvard University’s tax-exempt status.

And, Noem is not stopping there.

She is also giving Harvard an ultimatum: either turn away from their antisemitic, anti-American ways or risk losing the ability to enroll foreign students altogether.

If that is a little hard to read, here’s the full text per the DHS website:

Today, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem announced the cancelation of two DHS grants totaling over $2.7 million to Harvard University, declaring it unfit to be entrusted with taxpayer dollars. The Secretary also wrote a scathing letter demanding detailed records on Harvard’s foreign student visa holders’ illegal and violent activities by April 30, 2025, or face immediate loss of Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) certification.

“Harvard bending the knee to antisemitism — driven by its spineless leadership — fuels a cesspool of extremist riots and threatens our national security,” said Secretary Noem. “With anti-American, pro-Hamas ideology poisoning its campus and classrooms, Harvard’s position as a top institution of higher learning is a distant memory. America demands more from universities entrusted with taxpayer dollars.”

The $800,303 Implementation Science for Targeted Violence Prevention grant branded conservatives as far-right dissidents in a shockingly skewed study. The $1,934,902 Blue Campaign Program Evaluation and Violence Advisement grant funded Harvard’s public health propaganda. Both undermine America’s values and security.

This action follows President Donald J. Trump’s decision to freeze $2.2 billion in federal funding to Harvard University, proposing the revocation of its tax-exempt status over its radical ideology.

Since Hamas’s October 7, 2023, attack on Israel, Harvard’s foreign visa-holding rioters and faculty have spewed antisemitic hate, targeting Jewish students. With a $53.2 billion endowment, Harvard can fund its own chaos—DHS won’t. And if Harvard cannot verify it is in full compliance with its reporting requirements, the university will lose the privilege of enrolling foreign students.

Reuters reported:

he U.S. Department of Homeland Security said Harvard University will lose its ability to enroll foreign students if it does not meet demands from the Trump administration to share information on some visa holders, marking the government’s latest escalation against the educational institution.
Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem also announced on Wednesday the termination of two DHS grants totaling more than $2.7 million to Harvard.

The Trump administration has threatened to block Harvard University from enrolling international students unless the school hands over detailed records about the student body, in another escalation of the federal government’s fight against higher education.

In a letter sent on Wednesday, Kristi Noem, the homeland security secretary, asked for “relevant information” on each student visa holder at Harvard who had been involved in “known illegal” or “dangerous” activity.

She also requested information on the coursework of student visa holders, to verify that they had taken enough classes to “maintain nonimmigrant student status.”

“It is a privilege to have foreign students attend Harvard University, not a guarantee,” Ms. Noem wrote in the letter, which was obtained by The New York Times. “The United States government understands that Harvard University relies heavily on foreign student funding from over 10,000 foreign students to build and maintain their substantial endowment.”

The university, Ms. Noem added, “has created a hostile learning environment for Jewish students” because of its “failure to condemn antisemitism.”
