President Trump’s attendance at the NCAA wrestling finals in Philadelphia, PA last night was marked with several glorious moments, from his grand entrance to meeting with champion Wyatt Hendrickson.
Oklahoma state wrestler and current Air Force Second Lieutenant Wyatt Hendrickson pulled off what many are calling one of the greatest upsets in wrestling history last night.
Hendrickson defeated Minnesota wreslter Gable Steveson, an Olympic gold medalist who ranks as one of the currently greatest heavyweights in college wrestling. Before Friday night, Steveson had not lost a single match since 2019!
It was truly amazing to watch Hendrickson defeat Stevenson. A true David and Goliath moment.
“All week, I’ve been looking at David and Goliath. And no one thought that David could take down Goliath,” Hendrickson said in a post-match interview, before giving the glory to God for his win,
“But I did. I trusted in my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He gave me that victory. He was on that mat with me today.”
The moment he won the match, with God’s help, Hendrickson saluted President Trump!

A few moments after his historic upset, Hendrickson met up with President Trump, who congratulated the champion.
The moment was incredible to witness, in and of itself. Two patriots exchanging words, with Hendrickson wrapped in the literal Stars and Stripes!
It doesn’t get much more American than that!
The Irish Star reported on what President Trump told Hendrickson:
Moments later, Hendrickson shook Trump’s hand and exchanged several words with the 47th President of the United States. Addressing the matside interaction, the Oklahoma State star told ESPN: “He said he’s very proud of me. My commander-in-chief, I’m very proud of that. He came here to support his troops. I put on a show for him. I won him that national title.”
ADVERTISEMENTSpeaking to reporters during a post-match press conference, Hendrickson revealed that he was “really excited” to have Trump watch him wrestle in-person. On Friday, the 78-year-old discussed attending the NCAA wrestling championships for the second time in three years. “We’re going to the big fight. The reason I’m going is in Philadelphia,” he said.
But, it gets even better.
You see, President Trump and Wyatt Hendrickson have a history together that goes back three years.
It was originally planned for President Trump to leave the NCAA championships a few matches before Hendrickson’s, but he refused, saying he can’t leave without watching his “big guy.”
So, President Trump and his team stayed to watch Hendrickson’s match –which turned out to be an absolutely wild one!
