In the wake of President Donald Trump’s victory on Election Day, the usual gang of far-left celebrities made a show of announcing their impending self-deportation.
Only a few of them actually went on to make good on the promise to leave the United States, including former talk show host Rosie O’Donnell, who recently confirmed she had moved to Ireland.
Her international relocation fueled a segment of ABC’s “The View” during which co-host Sunny Hostin claimed that she and other Americans who apparently despise the country are somehow “stuck” here.
As the Daily Caller reported, she cut off Alyssa Farah Griffin, who was attempting to argue that American culture isn’t as far behind Europe’s as many on the left like to believe:
“We’re pretty racist, too, though,” Hostin said, with Griffin pointing out that the U.S. is the most diverse. “It’s a pretty young democracy that doesn’t seem to be working right now and so I do think it doesn’t seem to be working for everyone and I think that’s Rosie O’Donnell’s prerogative and that’s her point. It doesn’t work for her family and she is one of the few people that can pick her life up and move it somewhere, most of us are stuck here.”
European democracies have appeared to replace free speech and expression with censorship and arrests for those committing so-called hate speech crimes. In Great Britain, authorities arrested and tried military veteran and father Adam Smith-Connor for silently praying within a “buffer zone” surrounding an abortion clinic in the United Kingdom, in which he later faced a conviction.
A 61-year-old man named David Spring in Britain was sentenced to 18 months in prison in August 2024 for chanting “who the f*** is Allah” at a right-wing protest. In Scotland, the government passed a law prohibiting prayer within 200 meters of an abortion clinic.
Meanwhile, O’Donnell is still being peppered with mockery over her decision to abandon the country:

OutKick provided some additional commentary regarding Hostin’s remarks:
Of course, Hostin is gaslighting her viewers. She doesn’t actually want to leave America. ABC News currently pays her around $8 million a year to co-host a panel show, in which she faces no accountability for her inaccuracies or bigotry.
Even when Joy Reid still had a television show, Hostin wasn’t far behind her in terms of spewing hateful, often racist rhetoric.
ADVERTISEMENTIn November, Hostin responded to Trump’s victory by calling Latino men “sexist,” white women “uneducated,” America “deeply racist,” black Republicans an “oxymoron,” and conservative white women “roaches.”
ABC News did not respond to a request for comment about Hostin’s comments after the election.
She also recently claimed that America treats black people similar to how China treats Muslim Uyghurs, whom the government is committing genocide against.
Of course, based on some of Hostin’s prior comments, her statement about being racist might have been a personal confession rather than an indictment of the entire nation:
Here’s a clip of the recent segment:
