Authorities confirmed fatalities after a medical helicopter crashed in Mississippi.
According to The Clarion-Ledger, the “helicopter crashed Monday afternoon near the Natchez Trace.”
“A Madison County spokesperson confirmed that first responders were called to a helicopter crash around 12:30 p.m. near Mississippi 43 and the Natchez Trace Parkway,” the outlet wrote.

The sheriff’s office said a medical helicopter went down in a wooded area south of the Natchez Trace and North of Pipeline Road.
Officials said there were fatalities. It is unclear how many people were killed at this time. Authorities are waiting for the arrival of the Federal Aviation Authority.
The University of Mississippi Medical Center released the following statement:
“This afternoon, an AirCare helicopter had an accident in Madison County, north of the Ross Barnett Reservoir. Two UMMC employee crew members and a Med-Trans pilot were on board. There was no patient aboard. Law Enforcement and first-response units have responded to the scene and families are being contacted. We will share more information when possible.”

Per Mississippi Today:
At the time of publication, authorities have not revealed how many fatalities or identified them. In an email, Vice Chancellor for Health Affairs Dr. LouAnn Woodward stated, “Two UMMC employee crew members and a Med-Trans pilot were on board. There was no patient aboard.”
The helicopter crashed in a heavily wooded area near the Natchez Trace Parkway and Highway 43. Madison County Sheriff’s Office, Gluckstadt Fire Department and several other first responders are at the scene.
UMMC’s flight program, AirCare, includes helicopters based in Jackson, Meridian, Columbus and Greenwood. The helicopters are used to transport patients to and from UMMC and other hospitals.
