Per Forbes:
President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance accused Ukraine’s Volodymyr Zelenskyy of being “disrespectful” during a combative visit to the White House on Friday that often verged on a shouting match—resulting in an early end to talks as Trump pushes for a negotiated halt to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
After the fight, Zelenskyy left the White House early and a planned press conference involving him and Trump was canceled, after Zelenskyy and his delegation were asked to leave the White House, according to multiple outlets, citing unnamed officials.
The Oval Office meeting—which included reporters and TV cameras—grew tense after Vance defended Trump’s controversial push for a deal with Russia’s Vladimir Putin, saying “the path to peace … is maybe engaging in diplomacy,” and Zelenskyy responded by arguing Putin has been unreliable, pointing to prior deals made with Putin: “What kind of diplomacy, JD, (are you) speaking about?”
Vance then confronted Zelenskyy, claiming the Ukrainian president was being “disrespectful” for publicly trying to “litigate this in front of the American media.”Vance asserted that Zelenskyy should thank Trump for his efforts to end Ukraine’s war with Russia and pointed to Ukraine’s struggles with “manpower,” but Zelenskyy rebutted, saying, “everybody has problems, even [the U.S.], but you have a nice ocean and don’t feel it now, but you will feel it in the future.” (Zelensky also said he has thanked the U.S.)
Trump interrupted Zelenskyy: “Don’t tell us what we’re gonna feel, we’re trying to solve a problem.”
Trump, raising his voice, then claimed Ukraine was “not really in a good position right now” and that Zelenskyy was “gambling with World War III,” and at one point said, “it’s gonna be a very hard thing to do business like this.”
