Sen. Cotton Ridicules Democrats Following Their ‘Collective Hissy Fit’ Over President Trump’s Nominees

Senate confirmation hearings for President Trump’s picks to lead various federal agencies have drawn considerable media attention in recent weeks.

Unfortunately for the confirmation process itself, however, many of the headlines have reflected the animosity and hysteria on display by Senate Democrats determined to tank the chances of certain nominees.

For his part, Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) was clearly fed up with the partisan antics and sounded off about it during a recent Breitbart interview.

“They haven’t handled themselves well going back to the election on November 5… They’re not back on their heels. They can’t believe that the American people elected Donald Trump to a second term,” Cotton said.

“You know, they always wanted to tell themselves that Donald Trump’s election in 2016 was a freak anomaly — it was an accident, it was a mistake, it was Russian collusion, and all the rest. So Donald Trump’s election last year undercut the fantasies they’ve been telling themselves for eight years,” Cotton said, explaining because of that Democrats do not know how to handle it.

“They’ve had kind of a collective hissy fit this week over not just some of these nominees, but some of the executive orders the President’s put out, especially the freeze on [the] funding of a bunch of discretionary grants that were going to outrageous left-wing causes,” Cotton pointed out.

A number of clips shared on social media recently appear to reveal desperation some Senate Democrats to derail these nominations:

As of this writing, there is plenty of uncertainty about the chances of certain nominees, but Fox News reported on where things stand after some of the earliest hearings:

Nominees for Secretary of the Department of Housing and Urban Development, Eric Turner; and for attorney general, Pam Bondi, have both been voted out of committee, passed the cloture vote, and await a vote on the Senate floor. Bondi’s confirmation vote is scheduled for Monday night.

Trump’s nominees for Energy Secretary nominee Chris Wright and Veteran Affairs Secretary Doug Collins passed their cloture votes on Wednesday and await confirmation vote on the Senate floor. Wright’s confirmation vote is scheduled for Monday.

As of Friday, the U.S. Senate has confirmed eight of Trump’s Cabinet nominations, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio, CIA Director John Ratcliffe, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lee Zeldin, and Interior Secretary Doug Burgum.
