‘Absolutely Infuriating’: Sen. Cruz Blasts Zelenskyy For ‘Trying To Interfere In Our Election’

Democrats continue to push the widely discredited claim that Russians somehow helped President Donald Trump achieve his 2016 victory. Meanwhile, the party is relying on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to engage in what critics say amounts to election interference.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) made such an argument during a recent segment of his “Verdict” podcast. His remarks came after Zelenskyy appeared at a Democratic Party event in Pennsylvania.

According to the Daily Wire:

“Who the hell is Zelensky to be trying to interfere in our election?” Cruz asked. “The arrogance of this guy… And the guy, I’ve got to say, is an absolute moron for coming to the US six weeks before the election and attacking Trump and Vance.”

“I don’t care if Zelensky likes or dislikes what they have to say, if he had the sense God gave a cricket, he would have said on that question, ‘You know what? I’m not going to comment about US elections, that’s for the people of America to decide,’” he continued. “That would have been smart. But you know what, Kamala Harris is perfectly happy to use this guy as essentially a campaign prop. And as I said, it is absolutely infuriating.”

“Zelensky, this is just dumb on his part, because if Trump wins, he’s got a huge problem that just got bigger,” Cruz said. “And if Trump loses, you know, good luck trying to get Republicans to listen to what he has to say if he just behaves like a Democrat campaign activist.”

Zelenskyy’s political appearance sparked significant backlash on social media:

For his part, House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) demanded consequences, according to Fox News:

Ukraine’s ambassador to the U.S., Oksana Markarova, organized a tour of an American manufacturing site for Zelenskyy over the weekend in Pennsylvania, a key battleground state ahead of November’s election.

Johnson, R-La., said that tour was led by a “top political surrogate” for the Democratic presidential nominee, Vice President Kamala Harris, and “purposely excluded” Republicans. Johnson called it clear “election interference.”

“I demand that you immediately fire Ukraine’s Ambassador to the United States, Oksana Markarova,” Johnson wrote in a letter to Zelenskyy exclusively obtained by Fox News Digital Wednesday.
