One Detail Allowed Sheriff Snyder to Find & Capture Alleged Assassin?

The fact is, law enforcement simply can’t be everywhere at once.  With all the technology and tactics at their disposal, it’s still hard to beat a good old fashioned WITNESS.  And according to local authorities in Florida, that is what ultimately led to the capture of the alleged second Trump assassin.

The actual identity of the witness critical in nabbing the suspect after he fled the scene hasn’t been released, and may never be.  As far as I can tell, the following video is the first mention of the mystery witness who happened to be in the right place at the right time, and chose to intervene in the right way:

“Fortunately, we were able to locate a witness who that came to us and said, ‘Hey, I saw the guy running out of the bushes. He jumped into a black Nissan, and I took a picture of the vehicle and the tag.’ “  That was Sheriff Ric Bradshaw in the video, of the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, who gave the first press conference yesterday and mentioned the witness for the first time.

I find it interesting — even with automatic license plate readers along I-95, it is very possible the suspect is NEVER CAUGHT without that witness springing into action and taking the appropriate steps to notify the authorities!

According to Fox News reporting, Sheriff Snyder of the Martin County Sheriff Department actually responded to the BOLO and was able to make the capture on I-95 after the alleged assassin’s vehicle had been picked up by the license plate readers.  Here is Sheriff Snyder describing the incident that took place just after he made his way home from church on Sunday.

The man accused in the second assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump was oddly calm when the law caught up to him, according to the Florida sheriff who nabbed him.

In an exclusive interview with Fox News Digital, Martin County Sheriff William Snyder said he was immediately suspicious after pulling over 58-year-old Ryan Wesley Routh. Routh had fled in a black Nissan after Secret Service agents fired shots after spotting him poking a rifle through the fence around Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Fla., where the former president was playing a round.

“I was at the scene, and he had a very, very kind of detached, flat face. So I felt like it wasn’t bothering him,” Snyder said.

Snyder added that Routh never even questioned him about the reason for him being pulled over, despite there being helicopters and police lights everywhere.

Sheriff Snyder’s telling of the events leading up to the alleged assassin’s capture is corroborated by the following BBC report:

Agents opened fire when they spotted the gunman and fired four to five rounds of ammunition.

The suspect dropped the rifle and fled in a vehicle, abandoning the weapon along with two knapsacks, a scope used for aiming a weapon and a GoPro camera, Sheriff Bradshaw said.

A witness saw the man flee from the shrubbery to a black Nissan, the sheriff said. The witness captured a photo of the car and provided it to law enforcement.

The suspect was apprehended by police driving northbound on the I-95 highway after crossing into Martin County, roughly 61km (38 miles) from Trump’s golf course.

Isn’t that so often the case?  With all the tech and modern tactics involved, capturing the suspect ultimately hinged on one single point of failure — The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” (Edmund Burke)

Thankfully, there are still plenty of people out there unwilling to give in to the societal norm of inaction, apathy, and distraction.  I wonder about that unknown witness; what did he or she have going on that day?  What plans were put on hold because someone needed to step up and do their part?  I wonder if an appointment was cancelled.  I wonder what that person missed out on yesterday, because they chose to do the right thing in the moment?

We may never know who that person was.  But I, for one, am very thankful that people like that still exist in America in 2024.  And good for them!

This is still a rapidly developing story as details and information continues to emerge following the most recent assassination attempt on President Trump.  We will continue to bring you the most up-to-date details as they become available!
