Ted Cruz’s Democratic Rival Falsely Claims His Border Wall Remarks Were ‘Taken Out Of Context’

Now that Kamala Harris appears to have flip-flopped on her previous opposition to a border wall in hopes of reinventing her image as an immigration hawk, other prominent Democrats are being forced to face their prior remarks about such a barrier between the U.S. and Mexico.

One notable example involves Rep. Colin Allred (D-TX), who hopes to unseat Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) in November’s election.

The Cruz campaign used Allred’s own words against him in a recent ad, but the Democratic lawmaker claimed that they were taken out of context.

According to the Daily Wire:

Allred, who is running as the Democrat Senate nominee against Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), made the false claim while being asked about campaign ads that he is facing where Cruz quotes Allred as saying: “If they build that racist wall, my generation is the one that will tear it down.”

When asked if he still believed that the wall was “racist” and if he still supports tearing it down, Allred, who is trailing Cruz by several points in the polls, claimed: “Well, they were talking about, that’s a comment taken out of context, really.”

He immediately deflected from answering question and attacked Cruz for not supporting the Democrats’ border security bill that many experts argued would actually make the Biden-Harris border crisis even worse than it already is.

A clip from Allred’s 2018 primary race shows that he did make the remarks in the Cruz ad against him and that they were not taken out of context.

After nearly four years of the Biden-Harris administration’s open-borders policies, a growing number of Americans support the construction of a wall.

So it’s not all that surprising to see Harris backtrack on her hardline stance against such a barrier:

Axios recently detailed how Harris is trying to thread the needle by appealing to her fellow pro-illegal immigration leftists while trying to convince millions of other Americans that she actually favors some sort of border security:

In her speech to the Democratic National Convention last week, Harris said she would sign the recent bipartisan border security bill — which Trump had ordered his allies to kill, fearing it would help Democrats in the November elections.

That bill, negotiated by senators such as James Lankford (R-Okla.) and Chris Murphy (D-Conn.), requires hundreds of millions of dollars of unspent funds to be used to continue building a wall on the border.

“It requires the Trump border wall,” Lankford told Axios. “It is in the bill itself that it sets the standards that were set during the Trump administration: Here’s where it will be built. Here’s how it has to be built, the height, the type, everything during the Trump construction.”

Harris’ campaign says the border deal is a whole lot more than continuation of wall funding — and a tiny fraction of what Trump has proposed.

Of course, she’s not the only one on the Democratic ticket with a history of disparaging the notion of a border wall, as this clip of Vice Presidential nominee Tim Walz reveals:

And here’s a clip of Allred attempting to distance himself from his earlier claim that a wall is “racist.”
