Pro-Trump Union Leader Declares: ‘We Intend To Help Him Win’

While Joe Biden has dubiously declared himself the most pro-union president in history, it’s clear that not every labor group is lining up behind his Vice President Kamala Harris ahead of November’s election.

Specifically, the Fraternal Order of Police recently held a vote among its members and President Donald Trump came out with a decisive win.

As the Daily Wire reported:

FOP National President Patrick Yoes said that after the vote there was “no doubt—zero doubt—as to who they want as our President for the next four years: Donald J. Trump.”

“During his first term, President Trump made it clear he supported law enforcement and border security,” Yoes said. “In the summer of 2020, he stood with us when very few would. With his help, we defeated the ‘defund the police’ movement and, finally, we are seeing crime rates decrease. If we want to maintain these lower crime rates, we must re-elect Donald Trump.”

The FOP said that the organization considered both candidate’s records as well as Trump’s responses to the questionnaire that the FOP sent him.

In the same statement, Yoes added:

“The National FOP endorsed Donald Trump in 2016 and 2020. He led our nation through some very tough times,” Yoes added. “He provided our nation with strong, effective leadership during his first term, and now that he is seeking election to a second term, we intend to help him win it.”

Trump responded to the news and shared the union’s announcement on social media:

There has been other evidence during this election cycle that even typically Democratic-leaning union members are cozying up to the idea of voting for Trump:

According to the FOP, the Harris campaign did not even grant a meeting with union representatives, per the Washington Times:

Mr. Trump received the support of two-thirds of the FOP’s 46 state lodges and 377,000 members, who voted for their preference.

According to FOP officials, an FOP committee “met personally” with Mr. Trump ahead of the decision, “but no similar meeting was granted by the Harris-Walz campaign.”

The organization credited Mr. Trump with standing by law enforcement in the summer of 2020, when rioting and a “defund the police” movement broke out across the nation after George Floyd died in the custody of police officers who were later convicted of killing him.

The FOP has mostly endorsed Republicans since 1992. The organization endorsed one Democrat, President Bill Clinton, in 1996.

Here’s some additional coverage of the endorsement:
