Kamala Harris Says She Will Put A Former Republican In Her Cabinet

In her first sit-down interview in weeks, Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris told CNN she’s thinking about appointing a former Republican to her cabinet.

Harris, in the interview, shared, “It’s important to have people at the table when some of the most important decisions are being made that have different views, different experiences.

Harris added, “I think it would be to the benefit of the American public to have a member of my Cabinet who was a Republican.”

In response to Harris’s remark, TPUSA founder Charlie Kirk shared, “You don’t pander this hard unless your internal numbers say there’s a BIG problem.”

Per The Hill:

Vice President Harris said Thursday she would look to appoint a Republican to a Cabinet position if she wins the presidency in November.

“I’ve got 68 days to go with this election, so I’m not putting the cart before the horse,” Harris told CNN’s Dana Bash. “But I would, I think. I think it’s really important.”

Harris, who sat down with CNN for her first interview since becoming President Biden ended his campaign, told Bash that having a GOP official in her Cabinet would help her fulfill her pledge to be a president for all Americans. She did not name any individuals she would consider.

“I think it’s important to have people at the table — when some of the most important decisions are being made — that have different views, different experiences,” Harris said. “And I think it would be to the benefit of the American public to have a member of my Cabinet who was a Republican.”

Harris and her campaign have made a concerted effort to reach out to disaffected Republicans who are critical of former President Trump.

NBC News added the following details:

Vice President Kamala Harris said she plans to appoint a Republican to her Cabinet if she’s elected in November.

In a clip of a CNN interview scheduled to air in full Thursday night, Harris, the Democratic presidential nominee, said she was committed to welcoming diverse points of view.

“I have spent my career inviting diversity of opinion. I think it’s important to have people at the table when some of the most important decisions are being made that have different views, different experiences,” Harris said. “And I think it would be to the benefit of the American public to have a member of my Cabinet who was a Republican.”
