In Alabama, You Can Now Buy Ammunition From Vending Machines at Grocery Stores

This is so cool.

In the state of Alabama, you can now purchase gun ammo from vending machines.

Two of these machines just went up at separate Fresh Value grocery stores in Tuscaloosa, AL

The ammunition vending machines were designed by American Rounds, and they use AI to verify a buyer’s ID and age before automatically dispensing ammo.

Right now, there are only two vending machines out there. However, the company American Rounds plans to roll them out to more stores in the future.

They also want to expand to Oklahoma, Louisiana and Texas by next year!

AL explained how the machines work and where you can find them:

Two grocery stores in Alabama currently have an automated vending machine that dispenses ammunition.

American Rounds markets an automated ammunition dispenser which uses artificial intelligence technology to verify a buyer’s identification and age through card scanning and facial recognition software.

The buyer inserts their photo ID, and the machine conducts a 360-degree scan to match it to the ID card.

The machines can currently be found at Fresh Value locations in Tuscaloosa, at 4200 McFarland Blvd., and Pell City, 1009 Martin St. The company plans to expand to other locations in Alabama as well, according to CEO Grant Magers.

The New York Post also reported on this new invention:

Two grocery stores in Alabama are selling gun ammunition in artificial intelligence-powered “retail kiosks” that scan buyers’ identification cards and faces before spitting out bullets.

The refrigerator-sized machines, located at Fresh Value stores in Tuscaloosa and Pell City, use 360-degree facial recognition to verify a customer’s age and ID in order to make it easier for folks to get firearm ammo, AL.com reported.

“One of the ways we’re changing the landscape of ammunition sales is to make it more available,” a rep for American Rounds, which operates the machines, said in a promo video — which shows the dispenser serendipitously placed next to a cooler of Bang Energy drinks in the Pell City store.

To use the gadgets, which are located inside the stores, a buyer first taps the machine’s screen to choose the kind of ammo they want.

They’re then prompted to verify that they’re over 18 with a government-issued identification card. The device then scans the customer’s face and requests payment before dispensing the ammunition.

If any of you live in Tuscaloosa, try out one of these vending machines and let us know if you like them!
