Jen Psaki Gets Final Legal Warning from Top Republican: “Testify or Face Subpoena”

Former White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki just got hit with a major warning from a top Republican: testify willingly or face a subpoena.

Republican Texas Rep. Michael McCaul, who is the House Foreign Affairs Chairman, sent a stern letter to Psaki on Wednesday threatening to serve her a subpoena since she did not respond to his earlier request for her to testify about her involvement in the 2021 U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan.

Take a look at the breaking news:

In her book Say More: Lessons from Work, the White House, and the World, Psaki lied and claimed that Biden never looked at his watch during a ceremony for slain American troops in Afghanistan.

She has dodged earlier requests to testify before Congress as part of the House committee’s investigation into the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan, where 13 American soldiers were killed.

This X post sums it up:

The Hill reports:

Rep. Michael McCaul (R-Texas) is threatening to issue a subpoena to force MSNBC host and former White House press secretary Jen Psaki to testify before Congress about President Biden’s withdrawal of U.S. troops from Afghanistan in 2021.

McCaul, the chair of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, sent a letter sent to Psaki’s attorney dated Wednesday, noting she did not respond to earlier requests to testify before the committee, calling it “an affront to this Committee and the U.S. House of Representatives.”

“Ms. Psaki is a private citizen, who has published her insight into the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan for public consumption and personal profit,” McCaul wrote, drawing reference to a recent book, called “Say More,” that Psaki published about her time working for Biden.

“Ms. Psaki’s duty to appear before Congress is manifest, and her former employer’s desire to avoid congressional oversight is not relevant,” he concluded.

The Daily Caller added:

Republican Texas Rep. Michael McCaul sent a letter Wednesday morning to former White House press secretary Jen Psaki’s lawyer threatening a subpoena after she failed to respond to an original request to appear for a transcribed interview as part of the committee’s probe into the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan.

The Daily Caller first obtained a copy of the letter, which was sent to Psaki’s lawyer, Emily Loeb. In it, McCaul, the chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, mentions the fact that Psaki is a private citizen who recently published a book about her time in the Biden White House. In her book, she falsely claimed that Biden never looked at his watch during the dignified transfer ceremony for American soldiers killed in Kabul in 2021.

“Your client Jen Psaki has failed to adequately respond to my letter dated May 21, 2024, requesting that she appear before the Committee for a transcribed interview relating to my investigation into the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan. As you know, I requested a response from Ms. Psaki by May 28, 2024, which has now passed. Your client’s disregard for my request is an affront to this Committee and the U.S. House of Representatives,” McCaul wrote in the letter.
