So, here’s the update on the NYC belt rapist.

If you missed our original report on this, you can find it here:

GRAPHIC NYC VIDEO: Man Wraps Belt Around Woman’s Neck, Drags Her Around, Rapes Her

New York police have just apprehended the Bronx rape suspect caught on video.

It was May 1st in The Bronx when a woman was attacked from behind, the suspect was seen throwing a belt around her neck and bringing her to the ground.

He then proceeded to drag her until she became unconscious and then moved her body inbetween two cars to sexually assault her.

They've arrested a person of interest named Kashaan Parks, nabbing him in The Bronx.

Looks like the NYPD is making strides in this case, though they're clearly not making strides in slowing crime down.

Fox News reports:

New York police have arrested a "person of interest" in the manhunt for a Bronx rape suspect who was filmed on video assaulting a woman.

Kashaan Parks was arrested Saturday and charged with attacking the 45-year-old victim in The Bronx at around 5 a.m. on May 1, the NYPD confirmed to Fox News Digital.

The NYPD released photos of the suspect on Friday and asked the public for assistance in finding him.

Surveillance video recorded the assault and shows a man throwing a looped belt around the woman's neck before choking her unconscious and dragging her away on a dark city street.

In the video, the man is shown looking up and down the block before it cuts out.

"The male then dragged the victim between two cars and sexually assaulted her," the NYPD said in a statement.

The video, which circulated widely online Thursday, shows the masked man sneak up behind his victim, snag her around the throat with a looped belt and drag her to the ground.

She appears to lose consciousness within seconds, her hands falling from a defensive position to her sides as he drags her between two parked cars.

Sadly, had this woman been more aware of her surroundings she might've had a chance.

Be on high alert out there.

Stay vigilant!

WARNING. This video of attack contains disturbing images:

WARNING: this is an extremely graphic article and video.  Viewer discretion advised.

But that's exactly the reason I'm covering this.

New York City has always had a certain element of danger to it.  It's ebbed and flowed over the years, with Rudy Giuliana largely bringing much more peaceful streets.

But now we've delved into beyond third-world conditions and people are being openly assaulted on the streets.

Not just assaulted but a belt tightened around a woman's neck, dragged around like a piece of cattle, and then raped in between two cars right on the public street.

Here's more from local PIX11:

A man wrapped a belt around a woman’s neck and dragged her unconscious body between two parked cars before raping her on a Bronx street, according to police and a viral video.

The 45-year-old woman was attacked near 152nd Street and Third Avenue at around 3 a.m. on May 1, according to the NYPD. The woman was walking down the street when a suspect came up from behind and looped the belt around her neck, the viral video shows.

The man, who covered his face with a white towel, then used the belt to pull the passed-out woman several feet along the sidewalk and into the street between two parked cars, the video shows. Police said the suspect then raped her.

The video shared on social media does not depict the entire assault. There have been no arrests, and the investigation is ongoing.

It's time we drastically increase the penalties for animals who common crimes like this.

I am fully in favor of the death penalty for someone who does something like this, how about you?
