President Trump Privately Meets With Governor Ron DeSantis In Miami, As Possible VP Rumors Swirl

President Trump held a private meeting with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis on Sunday.

In the meeting that lasted over several hours, DeSantis agreed to help Trump fundraise.

During the presidential primary, the DeSantis campaign had a war chest of over $120 million at one point, but after a lackluster performance in Iowa, DeSantis pulled out of the race.

Steve Witkoff, a notable real estate agent in Florida who is a supporter of both Trump and DeSantis, organized the meeting.

The meet-up between Trump and DeSantis has stirred up fresh rumors that Trump may decide to pick DeSantis as his VP.

Here’s what Fox News reported:

Former President Trump and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis met privately in Miami on Sunday, multiple Republicans with knowledge of the meeting confirmed to Fox News.

During the several-hour meeting, DeSantis agreed to help Trump as the GOP’s presumptive presidential nominee tries to close his fundraising gap with President Biden in their 2024 election rematch, the sources confirmed.

DeSantis, who was convincingly re-elected in 2022 before launching an unsuccessful bid for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination, has built up a formidable network of wealthy donors who could be helpful to Trump as the general election campaign heats up.

News of the meeting was first reported by the Washington Post, which said the get-together between the two rivals was orchestrated by Steve Witkoff, a Florida real estate broker known to both Trump and DeSantis.

Per Politico:

Gov. Ron DeSantis and former President Donald Trump seem ready to put their feud from the Republican presidential primary aside — for real this time.

The two Florida Republicans met in Miami Sunday morning to talk about how they could work together during the general election, according to half a dozen people familiar with the meeting who were granted anonymity to speak freely.

The meeting was first reported by the Washington Post.

The get-together was arranged by Florida real-estate broker Steve Witkoff, several people confirmed to POLITICO. A Trump campaign official said it was a “good meeting set at the request of Gov. DeSantis.”
