WATCH: Tucker Carlson Opens Up For Kid Rock

Kid Rock invited Tucker Carlson to be the opening act at his concert in Gonzales, Louisiana.

As Tucker took the stage, he explained to the crowd how Kid Rock asked him to be the opening act at his concert during a dinner at Tucker’s house.

Carlson stated, “He said, ‘You should come and open for me on my summer tour.’ And I said, ‘Well, I’m honored, of course, but I don’t play an instrument.”

“Actually, I’m an unemployed talk show host, so what would I do at your show?’ And he said, and I’m quoting now, ‘You will figure it out, and you will like it.'” added Carlson.

Here’s what Newsweek reported:

Comments Tucker Carlson made while opening for Kid Rock during a tour stop in Gonzales, Louisiana, have gone viral on social media.

Kid Rock, born Robert James Ritchie, is performing in the Rock the Country tour, which sees the musician take the stage with stars such as Jason Aldean and Miranda Lambert.

The tour has two-day stops planned in seven small towns and cities across the U.S. between April and July, visiting Louisiana, Florida, Missouri, Alabama, Kentucky, Georgia and South Carolina.

The tour kicked off at Gonzales’ Lamar Dixon Expo Center on April 5 and 6, and former Fox News host Carlson served as a surprise opener for Kid Rock. Video footage of Carlson at the show was posted on X, formerly Twitter, on April 7.

Per The Gonzales Weekly Citizen:

After much speculation as to who the “huge surprise guest” was on the flyer, political commentator Tucker Carlson ultimately ended up being the one to introduce co-headliner Kid Rock during the second night of the Rock the Country music festival in Gonzales.

Jason Aldean capped the previous night of the inaugural event held at Ascension Parish’s Lamar-Dixon Expo Center.

The slate of music acts for the two days in Gonzales, which both had effectively perfect spring weather, included Hank Williams Jr., Big & Rich featuring Gretchen Wilson, Uncle Kracker, Gavin Adcock, Sadie Bass, Koe Wetzel, Travis Tritt, Elvie Shane and Kolby Cooper.

During the introduction for the rap-rocker whose career started in the late 1980s, Carlson noted he did not play a musical instrument and called himself “an unemployed talk-show host,” an apparent reference to his termination from Fox News last year.
