A man was arrested after he crashed his vehicle into the front security gate of the FBI’s headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia, on Monday afternoon.

According to police on the scene, the suspect drove his orange SUV at full speed into the FBI’s headquarters main security gate.

After crashing into the gate, the man attempted to flee the vehicle but was quickly apprehended at the scene.

The FBI has yet to release the driver’s name, and the driver’s motive has yet to be revealed.

Take a look at the aftermath here:

Here’s what Fox 5 Atlanta reported:

A man was arrested at the Federal Bureau of Investigation office in Chamblee after ramming a car into their security gate just after noon, according to the FBI.

He attempted to follow an authorized vehicle through the gate, but was stopped. Two other agents who were leaving at the time got out of their vehicle and detained him.

The two agents called DeKalb County police, who took the man into custody. He has not been identified yet, but FBI Assistant Special Agent in charge Pete Ellis told FOX 5 Atlanta the man was not associated with the facility.

Pete Ellis, the FBI assistant special agent in charge when a man tried rushing the FBI Atlanta front gate to breach security on April 1, 2024 spoke to FOX 5 Atlanta about the incident.

SKYFOX 5 flew over the scene around 2 p.m. where the wrecked vehicle could still be seen at the scene.

Per NBC News:

A man is in custody after allegedly ramming into the gate of the FBI’s Atlanta field office, according to an official.

The incident happened early Monday afternoon when a vehicle with South Carolina license plates tried to follow an employee car inside the gate, said Tony Thomas, a spokesperson for the FBI field office.

The gate’s barrier system engaged, as it does after every vehicle, and the suspect rammed into it, destroying his car, Thomas said.

The man then exited his vehicle and tried to run inside past the gate, but was tackled soon after. A bomb squad and search team both checked the vehicle as a precaution, which was cleared.
