The Hill reports:
Trump has repeatedly expressed sympathy for rioters charged in connection to Jan. 6, when his supporters violently clashed with law enforcement and stormed the complex to try and halt the certification of President Biden’s 2020 victory.
The former president has said he would consider pardoning some of those charged in connection to the Capitol attack, and he spoke last year at a fundraiser organized for Jan. 6 defendants.
Trump himself is facing federal charges in Washington, D.C., over his attempts to remain in power after losing the 2020 election, and he is facing charges in Georgia over his efforts to overturn the state’s 2020 election results.
As of Jan. 6, 2024, more than 1,200 defendants had been charged in connection to the attack on the Capitol. More than 450 have been charged with assaulting, resisting or impeding officers or employees, according to the Justice Department.
More than 700 individuals have pleaded guilty to various federal charges, the Justice Department said.

“Trump has vowed to close the borders and tackle immigration. Apart from this, Trump has also pushed for more offshore oil drilling,” Times Now wrote.
WATCH:
From Times Now:
Speaking after his first Republican caucus win in Iowa, the former president told supporters – “We’re going to drill, baby, drill right away. Drill, baby, drill. We’re going to seal up the border because right now we have an invasion. We have an invasion of millions and millions of people that are coming into our country. I can’t imagine why they think that’s a good thing”.
Trump, who is currently also facing a series of court cases for his involvement in overturning the 2020 election results, has also pushed for the release of the January 6 “hostages”.
As per President Trump, the people who were arrested for committing crimes in the January 6 Capitol Riot are not convicts, but “hostages”. Trump, who has denied to have played a role in the attack, has time and again called for the urgent release of these “patriots”.
