“Welcome to the California Comeback.”
That’s what Steve Garvey had to say in his victory speech after polls closed tonight in California.
While President Trump took the state’s primary delegates, Garvey — a pro-Trump Republican and former baseball legend — advanced in the California senate race.
He will be heading to the November election to take on Adam Schiff in the race for senator.

So far, Steve Garvey has done little campaigning and made very few public appearances.
And yet, he is neck-in-neck with Schiff for senator! According to some polls, he is even slightly ahead of Schiff!
It looks like the tide may be turning in California…
HAPPENING NOW: Democrat Rep. Adam Schiff is in a statistical tie with former MLB star and Republican challenger Steve Garvey to fill Dianne Feinstein's Senate seat.
Do something right for once, California.

The Orange County Register reported:
Now it will be Adam Schiff vs. Steve Garvey in what could turn into a bitter runoff battle for the U.S, Senate seat long held by the late Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein, a contest sure to evoke many more baseball metaphors than any previous California campaign.
Garvey, the former Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres first baseman and National League most valuable player in 1974, has played the baseball card to the hilt, even passing out autographed horsehides at many campaign stops. On Election Night, he likened his showing to a walk-off home run.
With his solid second-place finish in the spring primary election, he becomes the second Republican to make a Senate runoff election since the ultra-obscure Elizabeth Emken ran against Feinstein in 2012.
The Wall Street Journal also said:
Democratic Rep. Adam Schiff and Republican Steve Garvey, a former baseball star and political novice, will face each other in a November runoff to fill California’s U.S. Senate seat left open by the death of Dianne Feinstein last year, according to Associated Press projections.
Schiff is widely expected to defeat Garvey in the heavily Democratic state. His campaign spent more than $12 million on ads contrasting him with Garvey, which increased awareness of the Republican and boosted his standing in polls.
ADVERTISEMENTPolitical strategists said Schiff was eager to face Garvey and avoid a runoff with fellow Democratic U.S. Rep. Katie Porter, who had been running close behind in recent polls. Porter’s fast-rising political career came to an abrupt, if potentially temporary, end Tuesday night.

What do you think?
Will California break away from the Democrat party this November and elect a Republican?
