Republican Governor Reportedly Set To Endorse Nikki Haley

Multiple sources report that Republican New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu will endorse former United Nations ambassador Nikki Haley for president.

Sununu will reportedly make the endorsement official Tuesday night at a town hall event for Haley in Manchester.

WMUR reports:

After declining to run for president himself, Sununu spent the summer and fall on the campaign trail with various candidates, looking for the one he felt would be best positioned to take on former President Donald Trump in the Republican primary.

Sununu has said he does not think Trump can win next year and wants the Republican Party to turn the page.

Since September, the governor has spent the most time on the trail with Haley, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie.

From what the governor has already said about how he plans to approach this, we’re going to be seeing him really put his popularity and political clout behind his chosen candidate, Haley.

Fox News added:

Sununu’s political team released a media advisory early Tuesday morning announcing that the governor would join Haley and make remarks at a town hall at 6 p.m. ET at the McIntyre Ski Area in Manchester.

And in a statement to Fox News, the governor said “I look forward to joining Nikki at her town hall this evening – it’s going to be a lot of fun!”

The endorsement could potentially sway some independent and moderate voters who often play an influential role in New Hampshire’s crucial presidential primary.

Sununu has long been a vocal critic of former President Donald Trump, the commanding front-runner for the 2024 GOP nomination as he makes his third straight White House run.

The governor flirted with his own presidential bid before announcing in early June that he wouldn’t seek the White House in 2024. Since then, he’s said he would eventually endorse in the Republican nomination race and has teamed up repeatedly with many of the GOP contenders as they’ve campaigned in New Hampshire.
