Ilhan Omar Slammed For Spreading Fake News About Israel

Since the Hamas attack that claimed the lives of over 1,300 Israelis on October 7, Democratic House member Ilhan Omar and the rest of the Progressive Squad have gone out of their way to criticize Israel.

Instead of standing in solidarity with one of America’s oldest allies, Omar, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and Rashida Tlaib have been vocal in their support of Palestine.

Over the weekend, Omar shared a tweet from self-described “investigative journalist” Sulaiman Ahmed. It contained a picture of dead children falsely portrayed to have died from Israeli military operations.

In reality, the picture was from an August 2013 article in National Geographic that shows children in Damascus, Syria, “shortly after they succumbed to chemical weapon poisoning.”

X users were quick to fact-check the Palestinian sympathizer.

Users added a community note to the post clarifying that it featured a widely published photo of the aftermath of a sarin gas attack launched by Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in the country’s civil war in Ghouta 10 years ago.

Here’s part of the Daily Wire article:

Human rights lawyer Arsen Ostrovsky slammed Omar, writing: “Where @IlhanMN is now literally RT’ing fake news! This is a horrific picture of kids murdered by chemical weapons in Syria. She is claiming this is Gaza. She is just so ravaged with Jew hatred.”

NBC News deputy tech editor Ben Goggin weighed in: “Ilhan Omar reposting recycled imagery passed off as from Gaza. Sulaiman has repeatedly posted misinformation throughout this entire conflict.”

NewsBusters Managing Editor Curtis Houck also took a shot at Sulaiman, writing: “Sulaiman Ahmed is a notorious peddler of not only disinformation and anti-Semitism but lies about Jews and Israel writ large.”

“This is a truly despicable guy during a week where many, many people illustrated hate and repugnant behavior,” he added.

Former New York Democratic lawmaker Dov Hikind called out Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) over the matter as she complained about “misinformation” on X about the war.

Even though she has taken down the Post, Omar hasn’t apologized for it.

On Tuesday, after Hamas rockets hit a hospital in Gaza, Omar and Tlaib wasted no time pointing the finger at Israel again. Even after it was determined that Hamas was responsible for the bombing.

As usual, President Trump called it.

Interestingly, the mainstream media has largely ignored this story. Imagine if a Republican did the same thing.

The Democrats won’t only be calling for their resignation, they would also be calling for their heads.
