President Trump Trashes Letitia James For Targeting His Kids

President Trump was back in New York on Tuesday as the $250 million lawsuit against him continued. Before entering the courtroom, the 45th President spoke briefly with reporters.

According the Newsweek, President Trump told reporters that the trial was rigged and he also accused New York Attorney General Letitia James of conducting a witch hunt. He was also upset with her for involving his children in the case.

Here’s a portion of the Newsweek article:

“We worked hard, my family. My children are involved in this and they shouldn’t. They don’t deserve to be involved in this. This is a witch hunt by a radical lunatic attorney general…,” Trump said.

Although it is not clear what the former president is specifically referring to when speaking about his children being involved, Trump’s daughter, Ivanka, who worked as executive vice president at the Trump Organization, was initially named as a defendant.

An appeals court dropped her from the case in June after finding that claims against her were outside the statute of limitations.

According to the Associated Press James previously said Ivanka Trump participated in the effort to exaggerate her father’s wealth and obtain favorable loan terms from banks and real-estate licensing deals.

Attorneys for Ivanka Trump argued that the lawsuit does not contain any evidence that she “directly or indirectly created, prepared, reviewed, or certified any of her father’s financial statements.”

Even though Democrats have been plotting against Trump since he announced his run for president in 2015, while James and her office have been investigating Trump since 2019, she denied that the case was politically motivated.

President Trump, who was campaigning in Iowa on Monday, was also upset that he had to be in court on Tuesday instead of being on the campaign trail.

CBS News reported that even though Arthur Engoron, the judge presiding over the case, issued a gag order forbidding Trump from making online posts or other public statements about court staff, Trump doesn’t have a problem with the judge.

Here’s part of what was reported by CBS News:

Trump said Tuesday before entering court, that “I respect the judge, I like the judge.”

“I like him, but it’s not fair, because I don’t know how he could make a fair decision on this,” Trump said. “He’s got all the Democrats pushing him left and right, pushing him around like a pinball.”

Trump has denied all allegations against him in both cases. He and his sons have criticized James for bringing the civil fraud case, accusing her of investigating them for political gain, which is true because she campaigned on “getting Trump.”
