Obama Appointed Judge Issues Gag Order on Trump

The U.S. District Judge, Tanya Chutkan, has issued a gag order that limits what President Trump can say about the court case related to the 2020 election.

The restriction prevents President Trump from speaking about certain things about the court case and making statements against special counsel Jack Smith.

President Trump and his team are furious over the gag order.

Many others call this an attack on President Trump’s freedom of speech as the 2024 election draws near.

CBS News has more on the story:

The federal judge overseeing the case against former President Donald Trump related to the 2020 election agreed Monday to impose some limitations on what he can say publicly about the case, restricting the former president and his attorneys from making inflammatory statements targeting special counsel Jack Smith, his staff, court personnel, and possible witnesses who may testify in the proceedings.

The decision from U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan followed a lengthy hearing in federal court in Washington, D.C., regarding a request from Smith and his team to limit what Trump can say about the case brought against him by the Justice Department.

Chutkan issued a split ruling, granting the Justice Department’s requests for restrictions on the specific statements by the former president that she said could jeopardize the trial.

“This is not about whether I like the language Mr. Trump uses. This is about language that presents a danger to the administration of justice,” the judge said.

The judge can claim it’s only about justice, but let us be clear.

Democrats are seeking to silence President Trump ahead of the election.

They know he is on in the polls and need any advantage they can get.

Let’s turn it over to NBC News for more on the gag order:

Special counsel Jack Smith, who brought the federal election interference case against Trump in August, was seeking a narrow gag order against Trump to “protect the integrity of the trial and the jury pool.” Trump’s team, absent evidence, has argued that the Biden administration is trying to silence the former president’s speech during the 2024 presidential campaign.

Prosecutors and Trump’s defense attorney appeared before Chutkan at a hearing in Washington, D.C. on Monday morning. Trump was not present at the hearing. The trial is scheduled for March 2024.

Chutkan laughed after Trump’s lawyer John Lauro argued that the current conditions are working, saying she disagreed before she went through some of Trump’s statements one by one. Chutakn said Trump “doesn’t” have unfettered First Amendment rights, and that there’s “no question” that the court is entitled to draw restrictions to ensure the fair administration of justice.

I am confident these bogus trials will be drawn out longer than needed.

That way, they can prevent President Trump from speaking freely.

Let us hope that the Supreme Court can do something about this…
