It’s Beginning: Florida HS Football Teams Cancel Game Due To Players Getting COVID

Over 30 players on the Palm Beach Gardens High School football team, have caught Covid-19 which has caused the team to forfeit their upcoming game against Vero Beach High School.

In a statement school officials stated, “Out of an abundance of caution, the football game between Palm Beach Gardens High School and Vero Beach High School scheduled for Friday, September 1, has been postponed due to an outbreak of Covid-19.”

This is the second time a high school football game has been canceled in Florida due to the majority of players testing positive for Covid.

The Biden admin in August asked Congress for extra funds to combat a possible new COVID outbreak which has led many people to believe there will be a major outbreak just before the 2024 election.

More than 30 players on the Palm Beach Gardens High School football team have come down with Covid, forcing the school to postpone the upcoming game against Vero Beach. There were not enough students to field a team after 32 players tested positive for Covid.

Trinity Catholic in Brevard County also postponed a football game over positive Covid tests among players, The Palm Beach Post reports.

“Out of an abundance of caution, the football game between Palm Beach Gardens High School and Vero Beach High School schedules for Friday, September 1, has been postponed fue to an outbreak of Covid-19.”

The statement caused concern for parents, many of whom called the school. After this resurgence of hysteria, the school changed their statement to reach that “it received reported of cases or symptoms of Covid-19 on the Palm Beach Gardens High School football team. The decision was made to postpone the football game out of an abundance of caution to protect students.”

Spokeswoman for the school district Angela Cruz Ledford said “Although we did not have enough players due to illness to face off as initially schedules, the District wished the Gators the best of luck next week.”

The Palm Beach Gardens football team won’t be making the trip to Vero Beach on Friday due to more than 30 players testing positive for COVID-19.

The Palm Beach County School District originally released a statement on Thursday afternoon, stating “Out of an abundance of caution, the football game between Palm Beach Gardens High School and Vero Beach High School scheduled for Friday, September 1, has been postponed due to an outbreak of COVID-19.”

After parents inundated the school with phone calls following that statement, the district revised its initial statement, dropping the mention of “outbreak,” to state it “received reports of cases or symptoms of COVID-19 on the Palm Beach Gardens High School football team. The decision was made to postpone the football game out of an abundance of caution to protect students.”

District spokesperson Angela Cruz Ledford said on Thursday that the district wants to “ensure the best football game is played on the field.”
