An IRS special agent was killed Thursday by an accidental shooting.
The special agent was at a Pheonix shooting range for training when the incident occurred.
Despite being immediately taken to the HonorHealth Deer Valley Medical Center.
The IRS special agent passed away.

A special agent with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) was shot and killed Thursday during a routine training exercise at a Phoenix-area gun range, authorities said.
The exercise was being conducted at the Federal Correctional Institution Phoenix Firing Range, which is operated by the Federal Bureau of Prisons.
The Phoenix Police Department told Fox News Digital that officers responded to the scene and found the IRS agent with serious injuries.
Multiple sources tell @azfamily a special agent with the IRS is dead after being accidentally shot by another IRS agent during a training exercise.
This happened at a federal gun range near Anthem.

The IRS released the following information Thursday evening:
“We are aware of an incident involving one of our special agents that occurred during a routine training exercise at the Federal Correctional Institution, Phoenix firing range. The agent was immediately taken to HonorHealth Deer Valley Medical Center to be treated for the injury. The agent passed away shortly after arriving at the hospital. The incident is under investigation.
Our concern today is for the agent and their family.”

“The FBI’s Phoenix field office is conducting an investigation surrounding the death of an IRS special agent today that occurred at the Federal Correctional Institution, Phoenix firing range.
While the firing range is on Bureau of Prisons grounds, an interagency agreement allows for other law enforcement agencies to use the facility for training purposes. Today, the IRS was at the range for routine training.
